Question

Ok, ive been lurking around here for long enough, finally figured on something remotely interesting to post. I was wondering if there are any other people out there like me? I love trance, i eat, sleep, drink trance, I love tunes by System F, Armin, Rank1, Picotto and the Likes... but I have a deep dark secret... *cough* Ive never been clubbing, I have no idea why this is, but I just havent, Ive been listening to trance for over a year, when I tell people ive never been clubbing they think im odd (probably true that, hehe), I was wondering if there are any people out there like me? Or on the other side of things, if i SHOULD be into clubbing, where is a good place to start, somewhere really big? a small club? or what?

Well thats the end of my Bizare post. Sorry for waisting your time ;-)

Smile Same Here

To tell u the truth, I'm the same way. I've never been clubbing either lol so don't feel left out.

Cool

Your not alone Honestly I enjoy it once in a while, but for me its often the case that local DJ's spin crap, and I would much rather have a house party (which I often do) and play my own music that I like

Its just some of the crowds in local Raves and clubs are just not people I relate to much, maybe its because I'm 27 and I feel old around all these kids

But if I was in London, or anywhere in Europe for that matter I would be clubbin!

Cheers,

Thor...

Hey we all lost brothers or something? I have never been clubbing either..I love trance so much that its not funny...I EAT SHIT DREAM SMOKE THINK DAYDREAM tR@ance...
2 reasons i dont go clubbing,,
1. I got no friends where i live that like trance (now I do thanks to tranceaddict)
2. I dont want to go alone.

Hey StormJunkie your not wasting no ones time..Every thread counts..and this was a very interesting thread...

Posted by BuzzDC4life on Feb-22-2001 20:52:

what part of the uk are you from stormy? not to offend you in any way but yes i do find it odd that you've never gone out to a club in your life. there's just so many of them in england . every person from the uk or around the area whom i personally know tell me that they're tired of seeing judge jules. some of them truely hate oakie's guts. hehe.. a sign of animosity.
as for trance-contrl, the whole point of going to clubs and such is to meet new ppl. after a while it'd progress to friendship and when you start getting into a routine, it doesnt matter if you travel alone or not because your new found friends would already be there.

Hello!

i'm not sure whether to be proud or what... but london is pretty big on clubbing, and is the rest of the UK and EUrope for that matter.. but then again, i haven't been clubbing for like 9 months.. so does that count?? =p

Posted by StormJunkie on Feb-22-2001 21:01:

Unhappy

Im from portsmouth, probably one of the most desolated places for good places to go, however, Jules was down here twice in the past 3 weeks however on both occasions I negelected to go... main reason, no-one to go with.

StormJunkie

BTW, I dont need to go see Oakie to tell u that I think he sucks

Hey trance[]control, I got another one to add to that list: shovel snow. lol, when it snows here I put on my headphones and start to shovel some snow, hey it makes it go alot faster

Posted by BigLee on Feb-22-2001 21:44:

Me too! I've only been clubbing twice, and didn't really like it. Sunday night (TIESTO!) will be my third time ever. But I do go to raves about once a month.

Are clubs almost = raves in Europe? Or is there a different atmosphere in clubs than in raves? People I've talked to say there IS quite a difference between raves vs clubs here. (SF, California)

Talking me too

'been listening to electronc music for 2-3 years now, but got really heavy into trance over a year ago.

However, i've never been out partying. But hell, im only 16 anyways, i got plenty of time! That and i have little means of getting to a club/rave in TO. i do have friends who like the music... i just never go anywhere with them.

hehe unrelated, but- i was playing trance music on my highschool 'radio' again today (basically you volunteer to play music during lunch periods to 100s of students in the cafeteria). when playing i usually hear some hands banging against the tables to the beats, pretty damn cool. nice to know some people @ my highschool like the music i play.

Talking

I was like u when I started to go clubbing...no one to go with cause all my friends were pretty much into Hip pop..but then one day I just dragged all of them with me and now they go clubbing all they time with me! They LOVE trance now!!! So all u have to do is take them to see a good DJ spin..and convert them into fellow TranEaddicts!!!
I mean...who wouldn't like trance??????

good luck!
btw..i am going to see John Digweed this friday....

Posted by TeKnoHe@d2025 on Feb-22-2001 22:23:

yep, I try to convert my friends too. I got this CD w/ a whole bunch of good MP3s on there and I pass it around to them tell them to listen to it, so far I've gotten about 10 to listen to it and like it.

I live around Toronto, but I have never been.
I don't know, I guess I just don't like being in one place where there are so many people.
And, I don't like the drug scene. I hate them, and I know that they are rampant at raves, so I stay away.

But I listen to trance because I want to hear it. I listen because it is so good.
I don't need to go to a club, pay the entry fee to listen to something that I have better on my computer.

Of course, though, I wouldn't mind going once in a while, but I don't have any friends that listen to this.
Although at my college there was a guy in my program that was going to see PvD, but I had to work that day.

I'v ebeen clubbin' for about two years now,i like it,probably because we have got the right places around here i don't know. But I can anjoy a nice night at home, with some nice tunes, but not with the knowledge that my friends are amusing themselves in great club

Posted by breakdown on Feb-23-2001 00:34:

Hello!

well i think that if you have a bad clubbing experience, u will naturally consider clubbing to be not that great.. but if you actually go to a good one.. then u might decide otherwise.. i'm not trying to be obnoxious or whatever, but i think that the scene in the US and Canada is pretty poor compared to Holland, England, Germany and even places like mallorca....
if ya went to Innercity 12-30-00.. and was there for the pvd set.. u would probably never want to leave.. because that set was truly phenomenal in my eyes..
and Freedom @ Bagleys in London a year or 2 ago had an atmosphere incomparable for a venue in london..
just examples like that make me wanna go again..
but yea.. n e way..

Posted by cheesenip on Feb-23-2001 01:17:

Lightbulb

i've never been clubbing either.. but that's because i'm not 18 yet. i could go to the all-age raves and stuff, but again nobody to go with. i guess that's a problem in most cases for most people. i wouldn't wanna go alone either. plus i've got no income (no job) so even $30 tickets are considered pretty pricey for me. oh yea, and i've gotta pretty much lie to my parents and say I'm gonna go spend the night at a friend's house right?

so yea, i've never been clubbing/raving. ur not alone hehe

Posted by shr00mz on Feb-23-2001 04:31:

clubbin sux

I'm in NYC and the clubs there are horrible...bunch of drugged out newbies and people who dont even like the music..Twilo being the exception at times, although Limelight is making a comeback. Raves are the way to go

Posted by Some One on Feb-23-2001 05:33:

OK seriously you guys are all losers.

I Did not know Trance music existed, before i went to an After hours club with my friends. I remember the Club... it was Called Spin Cat... I remember the first time i took E there, and shit... i feel inlove with the music on the spot, and ever since i've been going to clubs, after hours and everything else that has to do with trance, and general clubbing music!

Invisible Grin

Well, i've never been to a rave or such, been to some clubs that played techno-trance and it was fun, would've been a lot funner if i had went with friends that are into techno but don't have any friends that enjoy trance like i do but anyways, i'll plan on going to a rave sometime this spring... if i find some people to go with

>JM<

Posted by igottaknow on Feb-23-2001 06:54:

Wink clubin

Me and my pa went clubin last weekend. I wacked 3 seals...
but seriously,
I like 2 club but its more about the people ur with than the music. If u want to dance with some cute chicks and have fun with your friends there is room 4 both club and rave. Only one would get boring.

Clubbing

I think its a shame that all u folks who've never been clubbing havent, simply because the clubbing/raving aspect of it is all part of the trance phenomena and experiance. Ye the music is what we go for but to me the atmosphere in Gatecrasher or Gods Kitchen or some other half decent is as big a part of it as the music!

U living in portsmouth is a bit of a bitch, the only decent clubz i know of near there are in bristol and london... oh and who was it said london was big on clubbing? True, but not really trance type clubz most of em... a lot of garage, hip-hop & breakbeat clubz in london, it has to be said though sheffield is the trance clubbing capital of the UK! either sheff or birmingham anyway...

Its true, if you take a bunch of trance haters to a big and good club, they'll be back for more. Music is one of the drugz used...

Peace out fellow trancEaddicts

First line: a bit harsh, a lot of ppl in here dont live within 5 miles of a half decent club like u and i, so there isnt much chance of getting out enuff

But my main comment is that if you want a true clubbin experiance, dont give up when the DJ stops at 6/8am... get your hinds to an after-hours club... example of a Sheffield weekend (if youre barmy enough...):

Friday night - Niche til 6am then on to Area 51 until 2pm then dont sleep coz theres no point...
Saturday night - Gatecrasher until 6am (sometimes later when jules refuses to leave the dex) then onto Insomniakz... Insomniakz is the most crazy place ever, it feels really naughty bangin away to the hardest of hard house at 10am on a sunday morning hehehe...

Peace

I'm getting the impression that you're pretty proud about your experiences with E huh?
I've read two of your posts now and they both mention the drug.

Guess we should all clap for you now?

Posted by agi on Feb-23-2001 14:46:

I agree Dwingo i hate these people who come on here to boast about taking E's and stuff. Ok you take it, but there is no need to make a point of highlighting te fact unless its related to what you are saying. It just seems very childish. (well jst my opinion) In regards to the topic i honestly do feel that it is a shame that alot of you have never been clubbing, because it is clubs that the music we all love, really comes to life and means so much more. I have to say that me and my c.A. cru mates never thought that we were that lucky to be so close to a number of clubs, but i guess we are lucky to be able to go out every week to hear trance.Clubs aren't exactly Gatecrasher but we do have some good residents and do get good residents every so often, Judge Jules, Guy Ornadel, Tiesto ...

Peace
