REVIEW: Deep Dish@This Is London

...so how was it? hope everyone had a good time

...i'm really gonna regret not going to this one...

I know i am home early, but need to save the energy for johan

totally unplanned, started evening with winterlisous and bymark (incredible food and service - would recommend to anybody)

decided to meet some friends at TIL, got there - huge lines ,but moved fairly quickly - i think the regular line was moving faster than the guest list line, we only waited 20 mins after arriving at 10:30 or so.

cool club, excellent decorations, and excellent ambience (ive never been to TIL before)

brad copeland - meh

but deepdish were incredible - great music, very upbeat, definatly could have stayed a little longer if i wasnt so pooped from driving from ohio earlier that day.

club was way too packed though, it was shoulder to shoulder / moshing, not my idea of fun, you could hardly dance. but im sure towards the early AM it will clear up.

i espescially enjoyed the large statue to lean on when tired and getting bumped around

also the junkie xl remix of that coldplay song (i think) was killer, loved it!

thats about it, off to bed to get sleep for JOHAN!!!!!

Well, after all those TOTA worries of dress code and "21+" etc, they didn't bother really enforcing either! In fact they didn't even check my ID, nor spend time assessing my "trendiness."

The club was fucking RAMMED from the get-go! Couldn't dance properly till 5am. However, with the toonage Deep Dish were delivering this was easily overlooked. Banging house music that was pretty much impossible not to dance to...

The only real problem with the night was certain portions of the crowd... lot's of "night at the roxbury" types who were clearly there to either pose, stand around, or annoy people by pushing back and forth through the dance floor! (A classic guvernment trait.)

This type of event was a big change for TiL, and I think all things considering it was an excellent opening night. There are certaintly some kinks to be worked out, but overall the night was great!

I could still use some more Dish for another 5 or 6 hours lol... will make it up at BEB 'G' that ended way too SOON!!

Kelly i hope you enjoyed ur bday celebrations!!!

Crowd way too pushy and Cap ur right....bangin HOUSE nd no room to dance until 5ish

Deep Dish WOW! EXCELLENT....one of the best live sets i've heard in a looooooooooooooong time

i will give a proper review and pics later on

it was nice to see everyone jammin lol....EMMA is a machine!!!!!!!!

SO yeah the line got to me i never made it in i got there at liek 10:15 and the line was huge, so i ask were the guestlist line is and ppl tell me it's around the building, i waited in the guestlist line witch moved 30 feet from 10:15-12 and i coulden't stand it anymore. (sorry Kelly) .... this is were my sketchy mission begun for the night(and it showed i'm from out of town) I sugested to go to Footwork so we walk down adalaide to 425 adalaide west and see the numbers go over 430 and no club so we call 411 and they say it's at 425 but no direction, so were like must be 425 east me and my freinds ponder what to do in toronot on a friday night some brave soul sugest comfort Zone and after being frozen inline for almost 2 hours Zone seemed like a good idea... we take a cab there and we find out that on fridays it don't open till after 4am so we jump back in another cab and get him to take us to 425 Adalaide East to continue our search of Footwork, still can't find the bloody as there is nothing around there, so we take a cab back to 425 west and i finaly have enough comon sense to ask someone if they know were it is.Bouncers were my 1st choice and the nice guy points our totaly lost asses in the right direction, Footwork on a friday was fun great music Addy n Dekoze but something was a lil off all the guys in the bar were really freindly
So yeah that's my review of Deep DISH @ this is london, Hope that everyone who made it in had a great time and gets a laugh out of my stupidity and sketchy mission Next event @ that place i'm gonna have to leave at like 7pm and be the fist guy inline

I'll recap this party bullet point style...

- liam is annoying as fuck whilst drunk
- the club was beautiful
- Copeland seemed right at home for his residency, killer warmup.
- Sharam for the first two hours was spectacular, the rest gets a big meh from me
- they kicked us out just after 6, wtf
- lisa loo is funny ha ha
- Nada actually will kick anyone's ass at a danceoff. lol
- Steve without a hat is teh funny

Overall standings, great party. I'd put it in 8/10 range based on it's "new factor" and Sharam's first two hours which were mindblowing...

- Say Hello
- "Infatuation"
- Annie Lennox "I've Got a Life" (Sander's Remix)
- Coldplay "Talk"
- Deep Dish - Dreams

Whatever happened to "dinner & a movie"?

Looks like I won't be regretting staying home last night.

We had intended on going to TIL too, but as expected when getting a group together, when 1 is still at work & everyone is trying to decide whether we wait for him or have him meet us there, bla bla bla... we didn't end up making it there til 12:15 or so. Big lines both ways. Saw Shanny & others up front, who'd been in line for over an hour, but we were stuck at the back. Not 15 mins there, bouncers announce they're at capacity & to clear out. I knew if we'd had waited we woulda gotten in, but my group did not want to wait.

So off we went to Boa. After navigating thru more cramped parking lots, arrived to a closed club.

So off we went to Footwork. My 1st time there- club was bigger than expected, and very busy. Crowd had a slight CoZo feel to it. Addy played a very high energy set, but overall I was in a bummed out mood, knowing everyone else was at TIL, and with those high BPM's, I just couldnt get myself out of the rut. Eventually ran into 3 familiar faces, but I felt out of my element. Left at 3:30, but wasn't in the mood to even try to get in to TIL or pay for another club at that point, so home we went.

I'm so glad I went to Niagara Falls for my dads bday celebration instead of this.

- deep dish were far better this time compared to teh last 2 times ive seen/heard them

not a bad night, line sucked waited in it for a long time, but got in eventually....yes guest list line.

dress code? nope, saw ppl wearing toronto maple leafs hats...ID's? what for, you could be 16 with nice facial hair and you would get in, no one got carded, and let me tell you for a 26 year old I get carded quite often....and that's for drinking not 21+

anyway, place was rammed, music was pretty good for the most part, I like the set up of the system there, not too loud, perfect balance of bass, not like viva...

met up with my friends, B-man, and my crew who I walked in with.

I have to agree though, not my type of crowd for the most part, I felt like I was at the guv...but what can you do, that's the crowd we have here in Toronto.

The funniest was that one guy who stood in one spot dancing all night on the second floor, no shirt but had his furry coat on...he was about 40 I'd say.......reminds of the old days at X-It when everyone was sketched out of their mind......I just thought that most of the crowd from that era grew out of it by now :P...found something better to do with their time than pretend they are 20 years old....oh well...he was enjoyable to glance on everytime I passed by......

anyhow, I will probably check out these events from time to time, I don't think it will be as rammed on most friday's but I could be wrong...there was a lot of advertising for this event so the turn out was cause of that...

Peace out.
