turntable dj cartridge??

May someone suggest what the best dj cartridge is out there these days. I am having big time problems with my Stanton Groovemasters especially with some promos that have very fine grooves. Thanks in advance .

You're gonna get two responses.

Shure Whitelabels
or
The Ortofon Concorde range

My pick is the Ortofons, I currently have the Pro Silvers loaded with Nightclub S styli.
The Nightclubs are the top of the range, and have a price to match.

If you're on more of a budget, the Stanton 680HP's are apparently a very good cart (will find out in about 2 days time), but if money isn't an object, for me its one of the Ortofons.

Definitely the Ortofons. I currently have Pro-S styli but I'm going to upgrade to Nightclub styli soon.

I'm happy with my white labels.

I like my Shure M44-G carts, they work very well, never skip and the quality of the sound is good. They arent as expensive as the White Labels and Ortofon's so they are great if youre on a budget.

The best? Ortofon Concorde Nightclubs. If you can't afford Nightclubs, any Ortofon DJ cartridge will work. So will, you guessed it, the Shure Whitelabels.

I HATED my M44-Gs. I wouldn't wish them upon anyone.

i say go for the whitelabels.

they have very low record wear, and they don't mess with the sound of your music like the orts.

i recently listened to a cd version of a vinyl release that i have. and they sound pretty much the same. the whitelabels don't add or boost anything very much. it's almost as detailed as a cd. definately as good as you can expect from a spherical stylus. they also have an excellect sence of clarity too.

for me it's all about faithful, and accurate reproduction. the whitelabels fit the bill. the orts don't. the fact the shure's are very gentle w/vinyl is just icing on the cake.

You saying the ortofon's don't have accurate reprodution?
your comparison of CD version vs Vinyl release - was that using the white's? Did you do a comparison with the ort's too?

for the record, I got nightclubs.

yeah.. i only have the pro-s carts but they're still amazing. in fact, i have heard whitelabels and was not nearly as impressed as i am with my ortofons.

guess it's just personal preference

I like my shure m44g's. i thnk most peeps dont like them just because they dont look "cool". i love mine...

i have a pair of shure m44Gs, and i love them. good sound, and excellent grip on records at 1.5 grams of weight. they actually arent too bad w/ scratching either.

$60 too

the orts sound bright, and boosted... the whites don't add the amount of color that the orts do. some people dig this (the ort sound), and to them the whites would probably sound kinda dead/flat.

different strokes for different folks really.

i don't have orts available to me, so i did my compare-O w/just the whites.

I've used them all and I still come back to the Orts.
