Cars

this is the last place were i thought a discussion about cars would come up. i know we are all mostly guys and all but i never thought to mention it. after seeing all the posts in the 'get to know ur txta's' thread i decided to stop spamming that thread and continue the discussion here.

so to get things started:

What was your first car? and Have you modded the car that you own now?

my first car was a 90 ford tempo, only good thing about it was that it had no speed limiter.

yes i have modded my 03 cavalier family sedan: Custom made mexican intake, stiffer motor mounts, pacesetter 4-1 header, custom exhaust with cat. and a resonator, and full stereo system (pioneer premier h/u, re comp set, re sx 12", pioneer amps).

1966 Mustang (Red) Convertible with white leather Pony interier. My car was used in the film Born on the 4th of July. If you've seen Cape Fear, you've seen it as well, driven by DeNiro (not my car tho).

Fuckin loved that car, but it had some mechanical probs here and there. Ran into the side of a house one afternoon.

NICE!

My first was a used 1990 chevy extended cab pickup (sold)
-did nothing to it
then a used 1996 chevrolet suburban (wrecked / sold)
-did nothing to it
then a new 1997 chevrolet camaro rs (sold)
-2x Rockford Fosgate 10" subwoofers, exhaust, nothing major
then a used 1996 chevrolet tahoe (sold)
-3x JL W6 15" subwoofers, chrome wheels, blacklights, clear lenses, all sorts of crap - this thing was LOUD!
then a new 2001 gmc yukon (still driving)
-it use to have... 2 screens in the headrests, a fold out pioneer widescreen in the dash, playstation 2, a pioneer 5.1 dolby digital processor for theatre sound, 2 12" JL W3 subs, 12 disc changer - but the kind folks in dallas stole it. then i replaced it with a brand new pioneer mp3 headunit and they stole it again. now, its just a piece of shit and i dont care.

First, though I didn't own it: 1988 BMW 325, did nothing to it because I didn't really have to. It had everything I wanted/needed for European roads, including a very comfortable back seat with decent stress support and variable recoil absorbers.

Second: 1986 Ford Tempo, did nothing to it because it was senseless to try and resurrect what was obviously a stepping stone to a disastrous end. First car I ever owned, it was worth exactly what I paid for it, which was about $2000. Met Final Death outside of Ranger, TX on I-20, whereupon I told the wrecker guy he could keep it because I wasn't putting half a grand into a new engine block.

Third: 1996 Ford Tempo, did nothing to it because I didn't have it very long. Perfectly functional car, vastly superior to its older predecessor. Met an unnecessary end at the hands of a retard in a Chevy Cavalier on the corner of Tank Destroyer Blvd. and Kawakalna Drive on Fort Hood, where the damage to the left rear wheel well warped the frame of the car and effectively totalled it.

Current: 1997 Ford Ranger XLT, have done nothing to it except install a 6-disc CD player so I can have constant beats no matter how long the road trip ends up being, and a Rhino liner for the bed that has proven itself able to withstand any bombardment. Fair-to-middling road mileage, great engine, decent accel., and the capacity for cargo hauling without sacrificing nimbleness for size. I love the smaller trucks. I plan to keep this one for a decade if at all possible, unless I win the lottery and then I'll end up replacing it with that 850i. . .

My first car was a 1993 Mazda RX-7, which I had at the age of 17. To make the long ass story short, I totaled it about a year later while racing a Firebird WS6 down Westheimer one saturday night. Honestly, that car was the best thing I ever laid my hands on. I miss that bitch so much.

ah!

forgot to mention the mods:

- 5Zigen 17" wheels
- GReddy 3" Exhaust all the way
- Stock T22 Turbo (with added Veilside bearings)
- Mazdaspeed Spoiler (stock spoiler didnt come with car, so I ordered one)
- 13B engine, so there are 5 walls. Third wall had a peripheral cut for more air intake. (Kike Chassis Inc.) - Veilside Air Filter with modded carbon-fiber air pipe.

ugh.. damn u had a rx7, at the age of 17. lucky.

First car i had was 97 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Spyder. Wasn't too happy on
how much it was gonna cost me in the end. Had it for a month.

Second was my good ol' 99 Honda Civic EX Coupe. Had it for 3 years or so. That car was nice, well for me. Nothing done to it just stock. Car still looked almost new when i traded it in.

Current Car is a 01 Honda Prelude. Love that baby. It's lowered with Eibach Springs and had a AEM intake. Pretty much stock almost. Next step is to get retrofitted projector headlights done to it, a lip kit (not crazy with the body kits), and who knows.. a turbo project in the future.

If I had the money.. I'd probably get the new suburban, tahoe, or an 06 Rousch Ford Mustang. Until then i'll keep dreaming.

I pop a hardon everytime i see that 06 Roush, or the 06 Saleen, or the 06 Cobra. Those cars are sickening!

My First

My first was a 76 Buick Skyhawk

Rusted floorboards from countless surf trips to the gulf coast.
I use to drive this back in the late 80's from Miami all the way to the tip of Mexico. We took off the doors and added cargo nets for the doors and then we took a hack saw to it and made it a convertable. That car went through hell,,,,, great times were had with in the sea guppy...

I now drive a 96 Nissan Sentra. Great car, not flashy but it runs great and is paid for!!!!

Posted by digitalbreach on Jan-30-2006 15:54:

1st car:
1993 honda civic LX. Manual. No mods except for a Sony headunit.

current:

2000 accord coupe EX. Manual.

Lowered - Tein Springs, Motegi 17 wheels, StrutBar, Cleared out Headlights (did them myself)
Exhaust with silencer,
Pioneer Headunit, 1 - 12" sub, Pioneer 6x9's and 6 1/2's
and few othe cosmetic changes. (nothing too ricey)

most likely to be my next car (realistically):
Infinit G35 6-speed.

lmao @ your first car Laz, and good job on your current one

My first and only car is a '96 Nissan Sentra also. It's reliable runs well, gets me around. It used to be my Mum's car, as she didn't need anything fancy for her 10 minute drive to work. When she bought it, it already had 13's on it, and apart from that there are no modifications apart from the stereo. But seriously, why would anyone modify a Sentra. I accept that my car, though reliable and functional, is a shitbox. Which is probably why I wash it about every 9 months.

As far as the stereo, I've installed an Alpine CDA-9847 headunit and I have a pair of JL XR-650 component 6.5" splits ready to go in the front doors. Down the track I'm thinking of spending some money on an amp and a JL W3-12" sub, and maybe some cheap 6.5" coaxs for rear fill.
