Hillary Clinton

Just trying to gauge what the general opinion of her is here. Seems like there's a good chance that she's going to try to make a run at the presidency in 2008 and - from what I've read elsewhere - she doesn't seem to have a great deal of popular support on either side of the fence. Having said that, she's still probably the biggest name the Democrats have at the moment, so she'd have a decent chance at the nomination if she did decide to run.

In my opinion, she seems fairly opportunistic and never misses the chance to come across as a centrist, or to appeal to the lowest common denominator. She's fairly conservative in many respects (e.g. the Iraq war, her "war on video games", her "family values" crap) which is why I can't understand the vitriol directed at her from the Republicans. If she ran, I think we can rest assured that the GOP would launch the biggest smear campaign in the history of politics (it'd make the "Swift-Boat Veterans for Truth" campaign look a John Kerry advocacy program), so I'm not sure she'd have much chance of overcoming that to actually win the election.

Anyway, thoughts?

Well, I think it all depends who the republicans run againts her. If the Republicans run a strong candidate againts her, then I doubt she will win. From what I've heard, Conny might run againts her. I doubt Conny will win againts her though. I think America is ready for a female president, but not a black president. As much as I hate Hillary, there is a good chance she might win. But, even if Conny runs, it will be a close election. I hope the democrats elect a better candidate, I hate Hillary with a pasion.

I think that's a fairly accurate statement.

And I don't think there's much of a chance that Condi would run, as she has stated many times that it's not something she's really interested in. Then again, stranger things have happened. I just wouldn't be one to put money on it.

From where I sit, I see it as almost like choosing between Hamas and Fatah. Ain�t democracy great!

Yeah I would probably vote for her over some fundamentalist whack-job candidate, but I mean I'd really have to hold my nose.

If the Republicans ran Giuliani, I'd probably support him over Hillary.

If it were McCain, well he'd win over Hillary easy.

And if the GOP puts up the analogue of the Iranian President (you know the "Christian" version), then yeah I'd be all for Hillary.

Clinton and Rice running together is armegedon. I'm so gone if she wins. But that's not going to happen so I'm good

Clinton becoming president would mean the complete annihilation of everything that America was built upon.

I supported Bush in 2004, simply because I didnt feel Kerry would have done anything good. Neither Bush nor Kerry were or are qualified enough to be the president.

Which also says alot about democrats. If you can't "make" a nominee to defeat Bush that doesn't say all that much about your political party.

Personally I think she's a cutthroat, heartless bitch ... who should be perfect for the job. At least you kind of know where she stands on principles and policy ... unlike the weak willed, "conservative" retard we have in office now. If there's one thing I can't stand it's an unprincipled, weak, and incompetant executive. Hillary may be a ****, but she would be a forceful, strong leader. I can admire that. And that's at least something more than the nothing I really admire about bush. Would anyone like to come forward and state that bush embodies the american spirit and character prevalent in themselves? Would you fashion yourself upon him?

I reluctantly supported Democrats in 2004... as a "lesser of two evils" decision.

Honestly... I was very dissapointed in the poo that had been flang at Kerry... and the overall weakness of Kerry as a candidate.

Oh well. I hope for better in 2008. Honestly... I'd rather vote John McCain.
