The Phil K one is amazing and inspiring. The best part was during the Justin Timberlake track.

Posted by SlackerBoy9 on Jan-30-2006 20:05:

that was the same thing alex said.i swear he is a closet timberlake fan

Not my style but still some totally amazing shit... The man (Phil K) knows how to work it..

Posted by KristineClub on Jan-31-2006 00:23:

Call me hard to please but I just wasn't at all impressed with the Phil K vid. It mostly just annoyed the shit out of me.

dan when you showed me this vid i went nuts. i love seeing phil in action. whether or not it is your style, there is no question he pwns everyone out there. i died laughing during justin timberlake, but it was badass! the man can do anything and always seems to be pushing himself. and obviously he has an ear like no one else. also, i like that he's not a prima donna wanna be rockstar (oh gee, look at me, im mixing records!), yet his spinning is truly live musicianship.

Posted by nchs09 on Jan-31-2006 01:59:

the idea of mixing video is intresting.. on paper, yet i was bored rather quickly and found myself skimming through the video.

ps. i liked that justin timberlake track
im a sucka fo those old choons.

anyhow i think the concept of just throwing just the video like sanders dvdj guy does is good enough no?... would u rly go watch some guy spin video?

Posted by SlackerBoy9 on Jan-31-2006 02:13:

it was just a demo that was done at a japanese trade show showing the capabilities of the dvj, wasn't a true set or anything like that

i rly dont think it has anywhere to grow.

u will be spinning music.. with video on it, if u spin a track straight through... well the the video is preatty useless. what he was doing, loopin, and cuing all is fun... yet i dont see it being useful @ a club or what not. maybe im wrong. hopefully im wrong and it turns out to be great

Posted by Pete K on Jan-31-2006 02:46:

The way 1000s are ment to be used..thanks for sharing. I'm amazed.

How can you not be impressed by that?

He is a DJ to the truest sense of the word. It saddens me to think, in the EDM world, people's impression of a DJ is one who mixes in and out of records; A task a $240 program named DJ Traktor can easily do minus the Jesus poses. By scratching, beat juggling, and applying effects, Phil and other true DJs are essentially creating their own music and consequentially, own style. No matter how much one dislikes the music, at the very least be impressed by his wide skill set and pioneering of areas few have been.

Amen brother, I concur!!!

Like I said, it is not my style but the guy can work the decks and knows his music. You gotta respect that!
