Drugs & Trance
Why is it so many people who are into trance/dance music are also into poppin pills. Usually any club here that plays any Genre of dance attracts schemie neds drugged out their faces!!
Pop a pill and listen to some trance (or any EDM for that matter) and you'll understand. Its nearly impossible to describe the feeling to someone that hasnt tried it (I assume you havent). You don't listen to the music anymore, its like the music becomes you and you simply dissapear in it.

Why is it so many people going out drink alcohol?
Why is it so many people not going out even drink alcohol?
Why is it so many people smoke - something which has virtually no personal pleasure one can derive from it but continues to do so due to the physical addiction to the drug?
Why is it people have sex?
the music exists for the drugs, despite what you may have heard about it being the other way around.
interperet this as you will, since the beginning of time music and drugs have been connected.
I beleive these sorts of gatherings are celebrations of all the fun senses that we have, people go out of there way to look a certain way, hear a certain way, and even feel a certain way. Drugs are just one of many parts of going out, like it or not.
Personnaly I am fine with music and drugs but I despise the fashion, the obsession with image, but no matter how much I don't like it, it still exists and is something we have to deal with when we go out. I think all the fuss over status symbols, the way one is dressed, the way one dances, it is a great fun inhibitor for me, I feel as though I cannot let my true self out in public for fear of alienating myself from everyone. But I just live with it, image obsessed people are never going to go away, much in the same way that pill popping people will never go away.

What is bad is
"Why is it so many people who are into trance/dance music are also into poppin pills."
You have already made up your mind that many people into trance/dance music are into poppin pills.
I don't think that's the case.

Why are we alive and where did we come from?
Just shut up and accept it
people take "drugs" because it's fun.
why should "drugs" be so bad just because some people can't handle it?
(iow drugabuse)
imagine if they judged tobaco smoking the same way as "drugs"...
just because some people can't handle the smoking it should be banned.
how much people can control their smoking behaviour? few people can.
cigarettes would be banned from earth that's for sure.
but it's socially accepted to smoke, while munching pills is not.
so cigarettes will remain perfectly legal to smoke while munching pills will remain illegal.
as long as people doesn't get hurt in anyway, why should it be a bad thing? it's just for fun
because it relaxes people and makes them feel less self concious. Im gonna start copying/pasting my older replies evertime someone starts up another one of these threads. Theres one literally every week about this..

imagine a professional opera
why do they paint their faces and wear customes?
they don't have to, it's to heighten the experience.
trance/chemicals/lights/lasers
et voila
... and despite all the saying "all that music is only for drugs", I CONCUR!
I have never taken any illegal drugs except weed and I totally freaked out on it although I just had smoked little ... and even the legal drugs fuck me up pretty bad with fairly little amounts ... so I'd say drugs are not good for me at all and I go without them!
And I listen to psychedelic trance - music, that is probably even more connected with drugs than the commercial/generic trance stuff. But I don't need drugs, all psychedelic stuff I need is in my mind already ... and when you want to state now that E is oh so good and whatnot I say that I can reach a higher level of endorphines through the movement of the body while just dancing! No drugs, clean system, wonderful music - all I need
SO PLEASE STOP SAYING IT'S ALL FOR THE DRUGS!

since we're on this topic... i can easily remember how an alcohol buzz is like, i can remember how it's like to be really stoned at a rock concert, but for some reason when i'm rolling and getting down to electronica, i can barely remember how it's like to be in that state, you know... "one with the music"
also, if i'm really stoned and listening to electronica, sometimes i feel "one with the music" as if i dropped a pill. any similar experiences?

Thats the best thing about them... that many people on acid... its something amazing and powerful. So many minds in an excited state of awareness. Substitute that with alcohol instead and can you imagine how shit it would be? |

| Originally posted by RTP Yes, man, I know ... once I was in that situation and everybody around me tripping and I obviously picked up their "mental vibe" and had closed eye visuals myself! And it got so severe that I got sick and had to go home ... and slowly, slowly on my way home the effects faded! And no, I haven't been on anything but drinking water from the sink! Nothing else! I was frecking SOBER and freaked out! Beat that! So ... let's say that the music has been created not for the drugs themselves, but rather for a special STATE OF MIND, okay? How you achieve this state of mind - may it be with psychedelic drugs or just with plain insanity is entirely up to you. Most people use drugs, others are insane, but what matters is the state of mind - not how you get there! |
wow that post sure made some kids squirm
I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with it but it is obvious that this music has a strong drug connection, the reality is everyone into this music encounters drugs and the people who decide to stay away from them are the MINORITY. This music is made to be enjoyed in clubs and on pills, if it werent that way then the artists wouldnt perform in those kind of venues, instead the only type of places where you can find EDM without drugs are at christian events.

WHy is this such a big fucking debate to noobs I dont get it....trance music and nother genres stemmed out of house music, acid house started teh actual edm scene in the late 80's out of Manchester .....it was called ACID HOUSE for a reason, any other genre which stemmed somewhat out of this era of music/rave cultture will always be associated with drugs...just accept it and stfu already. Yes trance, and edm comes from an era of drug use, and till this day still remains somewhat in that category.
