Global Gathering vs Ultra

so is this some bullshit competition that actually takes away from each event by not allowing the dj/artist to play at both events? If it is then screw global gathering!

That's what I have been saying all along. But nobody listens to me...

You are right, we don't!

If the case is that they can't/won't play both, then suck it up and go to the event that suits your tastes... For me that would be GG (if I was going to go but looks like I am going to NYC instead.)

I agree with you completly. Ultra may have the biggest lineup...nut THE FUCKING PRODUCTION of Global Gathering will blow your mind. Themed MASSIVE tents (the largest tents of any festival in the workd...lasers galore, inflatable baloons, lighting people would kill to see.

just check some of the global gathering pics from the UK and you will see what I mean. If the US event is even half as good as this one everyone is in for a real treat.

hey is anyone else kinda thinking wtf are The Killers and HotHotHeat doing at Ultra?!? i dunno... i was pissed last year that was playing a rock set at Ultra last year, but i saw the very end of his show and he was playing some of his old school anthems that got the crowd going nuts. but i really wonder how many people will be there to watch the killers and hothotheat.

If I was there I'd definitely consider going to The Killers.
It's not that hard to notice this band's been influenced by the 80s New Wave sound, you know like Depeche Mode and New Order.
I think it's great that Global Gathering and Ultra are becoming more broadbased music festivals. They're still EDM-based at their core (as they should be), but there's nothing wrong with incorporating other styles of music into these festivals. A lot of Dance fans also listen to other forms of music, and maybe some of the kids who come for The Killers will open up to the whole DJ culture (like the spring Breakers from all over the country). Maybe some of the older South Florida heads can help me out here, but didn't the club known as The Edge in Ft. Lauderdale used to mix both underground Dance AND Rock into its mix in the early to mid 90s?
Don't forget that the DJs themselves often incorporate several styles of music into their sets. One of the biggest Dance anthems of the past year was the Jaques Le Cont Remix to The Killers "Mr. Brightside". A lot of the big name DJs supported this track so I think it's only fitting that the actual band gets to play at this prestigious event.

Why don't you guys stop bitching and go have some fun? Competition makes it better for us the consumer. It only pushes each event to make themselves better for the customer.

im really only expecting global gathering to be around this year after they lose their asses. I heard they spent 600 Grand just for NIN.

JayD you know you are my boy and everything but you are talking out your ass here about something you know nothing about. First off Neil Moffit is THE WORLDS LARGEST PROMOTER. Peroid. He throws events all over the world IN OVER 15 COUNTRIES and owns one of the most profitable dance brands in the World Godskitchen, as well as one of the top clubs in the US ICE in Vegas. I have hung out with this guy during the conference a few years ago with JOOF and the guy is $$$$ (a multi-multi millionare) He could spend 6 mil on NIN and it would not matter to him or is global empire.

If Global Gathering Miami is 1/4 of what it is in the UK it will dazzle the states with something that Ultra can only dream of. Solid production, longer set times, diversity and a well run and produced AMAZING event. Keep in mind talent is only one fraction of the equation of an event of this magnitude.

Gets your facts straight before posting some mind babble like your above statement because it really makes you look like you dont have a clue what you are talking about.

ps. and they did not spend 600k on NIN
