Question FL P or REASON?????

im using flps right now and ive heard a lot of good stuff about reason and am consitering switching software. what do you think is worth it?

So very hard question . It will take some time to learn Reason (like several months actually) but evetually it probably will turn out to be the better one. I'm assuming that most people in here use fruityloops but I must say that Reason has lot's of potential...

go for Reason, second is Orion Pro then the old Fruityloops.

some of the Reason Tracks getting around are quite good, you should do well.

I just got orion pro and i have to honestley say it aint that impressive.I definentley recommend using reason. For the first few months using reason, when i first started using reason, i would try for like half an hour to make some sounds and get a tune goin, but i just didnt understand the feckin layout and how to use the playlist.
But im getting there with it now and im doin far better with it than i ever done on fruity, and definently on that orion program.

But dont let anybody fool you into thinking good music cant be made on fruity loops, this is wrong.

Yes, this is like what everybody says about this prog but don't make any definitive conclusions about Orion if you just got it. I could say the same thing about Reason when I first time tried it but I've been using Orion for over a year now and you really can do pretty awesome things with it...

Reason is the best.... i used fruity loops but i didnt liked it...

btw
Where can I d/l orion?

Posted by SgtFoo on Jan-18-2002 14:27:

depends on something

If you've done absolutely everything there is in FruityLoops, then goto Reason. FL is quite good for ppl who are new or advanced, but its quite versatile. Reason's learning time is worth it if you'll use its full capabilities....

,.....all quite obvious...

Thumbs up im going for it

i think im going for reason THANKS EVERYONE!!

Just try them all and see what works for you.

btw that u can't make good stuff with fruity is crap.
In the ole days a lot of hardcore productions (yes vinyl releases) were made with Fasttracker 2! and that's like an OLD program.

Another interesting (and totally free) player seems to be buzz tracker. I'm gonna check that out myself for fun sometime becuz I'm curious, apparently it's very flexible (this also means steep learning curve, lots of knobs)

Cool

Hi! Well, my oppinion is that Reason is the best thing out there for producing trance. I'm not saying that FL and Orion suck...cuz they just don't. I have even tried to create some trance on good old Fasttracker II ...but I failed big-time..:/ dunno why, maybe cuz I didn't put so much effort in it. But using Reason can be really difficult at the beginning. Just brake something when U get really pissed (like throw a tv out of the window or sumthin), that helps :P
Ok. Enough. Some like the mother, some like the daughter

reason with cubase vst sounds delicious...if only it would work!

maybe ill figure this out....

I've never used Fruityloops, but I can tell you after spending eight months with Reason, it is starting to become apparent what it can do. If you have a moderate processor (I have a PII-350mhz w/ 327 mb Ram)then I think you are only limited by your own creativity. You can have as many of each device as you want, so if your lead synth sounds a little thin, then you can use four synths, each filtered and detuned differently to make a monster sound. And the f/x are a lot better than people give them credit for. Just lately i've come across some really out there sounds that are perfect for trance. so if you're willing to put the time into figuring it out then go for Reason

first you must have Cubase 5.0 r3 and up.

open Cubase first, open Rewire and all the channels( start with 16)
open Reason. try that

its worse than that...

heres what i get when i try to run cubase vst:
------------------------------------------------------------------
Cubase.exe - Entry Point Not Found
(X) The procedure entry point SMapLS_IP_EBP_12 could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll
------------------------------------------------------------------

it seems this is a problem relating to running it on windows 2000 .. and im having fun trying to get this thing working
