last time I went was about 3 years ago.
There was way more cops and way more people than my first time (5 years ago)
I of heard alot of shit happening (ie. fights, locals jacking up spring breakers, cops being assholes) but it all depends on who you go with and how hard you wanna party.
~cheers
for guys it all depends on if you have money or beads.
for chicks it all depends on if you are cute, if you are you will have a blast, but be prepared for a BUNCH of rap/reggaeton/u.s. club music......

I've been to Padre 3 times(2 on spring break) and I think it's worth going. It's obviously not as nice as Miami or Cancun, but it's a lot cheaper to go to. As far as people getting into fights, you should be fine as long as you aren't with guys who talk shit to random people and throw beer bottles. No one I went with has ever gotten into any fights, but we don't really go around looking to get into it with people.
The best clubs to go to are probably Tequila Frog's and Louie's. They both sit right on the water and have huge outdoor areas that look out over the water. The only problem is that they mostly play hip-hop. Louie's has a different headliner every night such as DJ Skribble or Sean Paul or other people like that. We did however find some afterparty's where they were playing trance the last few times we went. Going across the border into Matamoras can also make for a good time. You can pretty much do anything you want over there(pharmacies, etc.), and they have places that are all you can drink for $5. If you do go to Mexico though, make sure you park at the border and walk across, it's much safer that way than if you take your car over.
Also, if you do decide to go, make sure you stay at the Sheraton. It's where the celebrities and MTV crew and everybody stays, and the best beach parties during the day are right behind it on it's private beach that you can only get to if you are staying there.
Obviously it's not the best place you can go for spring break, but if you like to drink and party I don't think you would be disappointed.
I think padre sucks and is for julios but thats just my opinion (and the truth).

Seriously as a male down at padre for spring break you can get into a lot of shit for a whole bunch of nothing. Especially the UT OU bullshit that has been going on lately. Students just fighting each other for the sake of certain hat or t-shirt. The last time I went down for spring break the image that will always stand out in my head is the dead guy being air lifed out at the helipad next to my friend's beach house and the group of males face down in the sand while their expedition w/ spinner rims is being towed away and the cops are pointing M-16s at them while they piled all the handguns they had confiscated from their persons and vehicle.

I have no idea I just know (and I do suspect this was a completely unrelated incident) that we were chilling at my friend's beach house which is in on the bay side not on the surf side of the island, and there is a helipad at the beginning of the complex. I just know that we were hanging out drinking shooting the shit after coming off the beach late at night and an ambulance and some police cars drive up and a helicopter touches down and they basically just transferred a dead body from the ambulance to the helicopter and flew off so the doctors could pronouce him dead wherever they landed. Kinda fucked up if you ask me. I know there were also a lot of local gang members prowling around trying to start trouble with the tourists. I might have had something to do with that.
You know, I can party anywhere. So from what everyone has said so far I'm going to say screw Padre. Thanks for the input but I'd rather not have to worry about shit like that. Spring break means RELAXING too. So the search continues. Road trip is looking pretty good right now.
After reading all this, yeah fuck Padre even more. lmao @ Paula's conclusion.
Its true padre isnt for everyone, it WILL rain during texas week. it always does. there will be dumbasses that cant control themselves or their alcohol intake. your experiences are true and there are many many more from previous years, but most people find a way to enjoy it. if you stay in the middle to south part of SPI expect trouble because thats where EVERYONE goes. if you are up in the north right before the bahia mar you should be ok (its a "residential area" so still have spring breakers but substansially less). im sorry to hear that ur not going but one year you should try it out. just remember to NOT go overboard on the cost of the condo and plan your spring break in the beginning of jan.! lates

I get my ass kicked because dumb-fucks from Oklahoma were fucking around with my girlfriend and thought I wouldnt do anything, and because they saw my hat. Let's face it. Last 3 times I've been there it either rains, or I end up getting arrested because some dumb shit thinks it's way cool to talk shit to people (and their gf) while he's drunk, and of course I'm the kind of person that won't waste time, so I just swing at a motherf-cker and have fun. Again, people who can't seem to get a grip on life and KNOW when it's time to stop drinking are the ones who ruin spring break for others. It may be fun for you to sit there and watch the drama, but after a while people kinda grow out of that era. I've grown out of that era... |
