[Review] Porterhouse- Eli Wilkie and Steve Porter @ Avalon Boston 2/3/06

What a great night. Got in around ll:20, Eli was playing that Don't you forget about me remix. can't think of who does it right now. All night eli and steve brought the happy funky house like only they can. Steve was really working the dance floor with some hard tunes around 1:20. Place was out of control. I made a request of steve to play his remix of funk harmony park to which he replied "that's a good idea." He dropped it around 1:40 which made me really happy. From then on out he just cruised and brought the energy down a little until 2 when the lights came up.

Another cool thing about tonight was meeting chris micali. Dubs dragged me into the vip section where he was chillin and I introduced myself to him. he's a really chill dude.

Overall I'd say it was much better than the last Porterhouse i went to over the summer. Although the club was decorated a lot nicer that time. Last night it was all about the music. Really good times.

Gooch,

That track is Bidarom - Don't Forget About Me (Phunk Investigation Mix)....I'll send you it if I haven't already.

Some Spots That Porter played:

DNox and Beckers - Jet Lag Slave
Full Intention - La Musique

Awesome night...I just wish I got there sooner....I only made it to Avalon at 1

It was definitely better than the past two porter nights which were fun anyway...I think I might have some pictures if they came out alright...I am still out from friday night

Thanks.

BTW, anyone have the video or audio of Porter from Guvernment last Saturday? They were supposed to have video of him and Blank & Jones, but apparently they couldn't record B&J's set. People were commenting on Porter's set in the tracklist forume as it was going on, so I'd assume there's at least audio floating around.

I'll check that out. Porter is such a great guy and he's been getting bigger crowds for his nights at Avalon in Boston....He's always had a great turnout for his nights at rise too. He just keeps improving everytime I see him and the vibe is always so fun and uplifting in the music he spins. I can't wait for Porterhouse at the WMC

Thanks for posting a link to the mix, I'm kicking myself for not going now.

I recognized two more tracks from it:

John Dahlback - Nothing is For Real (Remix)
Techtronic - Pump Up the Jam (Remix, but not 'Crowd is Jumping Mix')

Was also able to spot Steve Porter- Funk Theory (Original Mix)(around 42 mins). If anybody knows the name of the track that he plays right after that i would be very happy That piano is killerrrrrr.
