6 Nations Thread *spoilers*

England 47-13 Wales
Ireland 26-16 Italy

England looking good and a fiver says italy beat scotland AND wales this tournament.

I think the winner will be pretty tight between france and england. I don't think Ireland are strong enough to challenge this year

yeh, i think it is gunna be a 2 horse race, between England and the frogs, England seem 2 be playing better as a unit, when they won the world cup all there experienced players were coming to the end of there international career, so they had to bring the new players in, so they had to take time to gel, now i think that is starting to happen

That was an amazing game. Second Half was really exciting. England were class on Saturday though.

It was a good game, Scotland always have a result like that in them. Will be interesting to see if they can keep it going.

Good result for England, as the whole team played well. Honniss seemed to be on our side as well half the time (Dallaglio and Dawson tries). Will be much tougher against teams with a better pack.

Ireland strugled against Italy but it was the first match and the win was more important. A team that will get better as the tournament progresses. Italy will upset someone this time round

I admit, I was expecting better of the French side in the match against Scotland. Scotland played well but France didn't on the day. Italy's disappointment is fully justified.

Totally different teams though, as far as I'm concerned. There were a couple of players from the world cup winning team that retired after that, then joined the 6 nations team, but those players tend to just go on for the last 20 minutes or so in a match, with the 6 nations team mostly being made up of different men to the world cup team.

haha...just pointing out that the 6 nations is a totally separate team, with a couple of guys taken in from the world cup as minor players (so its not like its the same team as the world cup, with a few yonger guys in). Sure you all knew that tho hehe

Yeah i think i'm just getting confused because we're agreeing. And judging by half time it looks like i'm right about the welsh beating you

Scotland got in a few consolation trys at the end, but a good performance from the Welsh

Never said you were wrong! So, looks like England are the only hope for a grandslam/triple crown. Och weel - calcutta in 2 weeks time!

Scotland 18 - 12 England

Well I only saw the highlights of this as I dont have a TV and didn't fancy watching it in a pub surrounded by England supporters, especially as an England win was a likely outcome .

England played well, but with their usual tactic of trying to bolsh their way through the match and it seems to be Scotland's defence that won the match. The sheer exhaustion on White's face as he collected the cup spoke volumes of the level of commitment that was required to fight off the English.

So no Grandslam this year. But for all you guys that think England and France are going to be the main competitors for the 6 nations, you have your big match next week. Scotland have already beaten both England and France, the main heavyweight teams, so we'll see what happens...

We played shite mate!! Giving away penalty after penalty, we completely deserved to lose that match. And I agree Scotlands defence was solid.

hehe well I can't really say much as I didn't see the match myself. But it looks to me as if there were a few mistakes on the English side but nothing drastic... but basically the Scottish defence forced the English in to a chasing game, where the English attack just wasn't sufficient.
