Saturday nights are officially back in SD...

Polka Dot Presents and Realivze Tribe Productions just officially locked in Saturday nights at the recently opened Belo restaurant and nightclub in San Diego.

Opening night is slated for March 4th...

Finally a reason for the locals to stop heading out of town on the weekends... the overall production--from the vibe, to the club, to the sound, to the talent will be exactly what SD has been lacking for the last year since the closing of L5... and word is the club is willing to give Dot and Realivze a descent amount of creative control, so this new project will hopefully vastly surpass even those events.

So, something to be excited about in the months ahead...

The info for opening night is below... bookings for the first few months at Belo were done by the venue, however, word is some top notch artists are on the way by mid-spring

You can stay updated on the schedule at either www.realivzetribe.com or www.belosandiego.com

Congrats!

Should be interesting to see how the battles occur for bookings between SD and LA on Saturday nights.

Well, what I mean is if a DJ has a west coast gig on the Friday night. In Vegas, or most like in SF. Right now most Friday night SF gigs end up playing in LA the Saturday night at Spundae or at Avalon....question is, how will SD affect on whether those DJs actually do go to LA on the Saturday night...will SD be able to pull the DJ away from going to LA to go to SD instead.

San Diego is RIPE for a club explosion from everything I've seen...so if they can going with being successful every weekend, agencies will start to notice and give SD serious thought when looking to book their DJs someone on the west coast on a Saturday night.

i see what you're saying. the times i've been in san diego though, it seems more of a hip hop kinda crowd. but you're right, it will be interesting to see if they can get some big names down there.

Hell yeah, i'm stoked to be on board with my boys again as we break ground into another great saturday night venue. Hti me up for guest list and def. be on the lookout for some ridiculous talent to come through the doors.

Also, i'm sure that polkadot and realivze tribe will have discounted lists just like back @ L5, sothe $30 cover will hopefully not be anything for people to gripe about anymore.

Congradulations! Looking forward to a lot of fun of Saturday nights. Great news for the San Diego club scene.

btw are you guys (Polka Dot & Realivze Tribe) still involved with Fridays @ On Broadway?

Agree.

San Diego cannot compete with LA. But there are probably only one or two cities in the world that can.

San Diego doesn't have to compete with LA. San Diego just needs to be San Diego. There is a huge pool of clubbers to draw from Orange County to Mexico. In addition most of the major clubs in San Diego are within walking distance (Gaslamp). Because of the plethora of new luxury hotels and high-rise condos recently built downtown pulling heads should not be an issue. There is a lot of discretionary income available on Friday and Saturday nights downtown. Enough to fuel a thriving club scene.

I believe the issue in San Diego has always been a lack of proper venues and competent promoters. That has changed and changed drastically.

San Diego should become one of the better clubbing destinations in the U.S. There is no excuse why it can't be.

The future looks bright in San Diego. I cant wait.

As for the booking issue... Dave has a great point... we have consistently lost out on bookings to LA and SF for years. Often with reolutions coming in the form of midweek events for bigger names.

But the truth is, there are enough quality dj's to go around, and we managed to pull in reasonable artists for Saturday nights years ago... and as Dave and Chuck mentioned rather astutely... things are MUCH different these days around here.

The process which Dave was referring to, has actually been going on for quite some time... agencies began to recognize the growing possibilites for SD quite a while ago. And honestly, many of them have been waiting for us... it was just a matter of finding the right venue and the right management, which would allow us to produce the right vibe. Which I am happy to say... I think we have.

Look out for more good news regarding this night in the weeks ahead...

by the way Chuck... yes we are still at On Broadway on Fridays for now...

Also, just to clarify the cover situation at BELO. A lot of peole have been complaining about a $30 cover at the club. This is no longer the case.

Cover is $20 just like @ other places.
Presales can be bought @ wanttickets. for $15
Regular discount guest lists will be offered for $10 admission every weekend pretty much.

Now there are no excuses

Cover is definitely not $30, true... however, it is yet to be determined... the venue will most likely price admission at $25 with a discount guest list of $15. Guaranteed entry presales are $20 on wantickets.
