Sasha Fundacion NYC review

Somebody posted this on another forum and I thought it was too funny not to share. Id like to point out that these aren't my veiws, and neither have i heard the album so I cant comment, but, it is funny...
quote:

Unabashedly mixed on Ableton which Sasha praises highly in the sleeve notes- the album promises to impart on the listener a musical opus that is the formidable DJ Sasha "having the time of his life" .

Now I'm a patient man, I don't like to judge too harshly until I've had a good few listens. Fundacions fifth and final chance was this morning - and I therefor am permitted to vent forth my spleen thusly:

First 15 minutes, not bad - good in some places even. This soon gives way to perhaps the most convoluted exploration of a DJ's own arsehole I've ever had the misfortune to suffer. Ableton has given the DJ the freedom to cut and remix tracks and effect loops to the hearts content - and that is what Sasha does....endlessly, to skull fuckingly banal effect. No semblence of a tune, just head down narccissitic noodling that drops out of the speakers like a dry, wipe free turd. A real crowd pleaser.

You may be familiar with the situation - your hunched over Reason locked into your lastest loop, it's been relentlessly twisting around your head - and it's best fucking thing you've ever heard. Breathlessly you add effects, cut sections tighten, loosen, widen flatten the sound - "my god I'm a fucking genius!" you think.......then after a quick cup of tea you realise you were just lost inside you're fantasy world and actually what you have created sounds the raping of the vestal virgins on the final furlong of the cheltenham gold cup.....

Sasha's new mix although in this vein, is nowhere near as interesting. It's flat, luke warm and inspired only by Sasha's inflated DJ ego.
I bet he was naked when he recorded it, in a room surrounded mirrors so he could witness the divinity that it is himself DJ Sasha! As he recasts the future of dance music in the image of his own hardened and most virile state. cnut.

I don't know.. When I met Sasha, he seemed like a pretty chilled out guy...

Posted by Floorfiller on Feb-07-2006 17:31:

it might've been funny if the guy didn't try so hard...

lol, any excuse is good to say that you've met sasha ?

Posted by NightCrawllure on Feb-07-2006 17:40:

I bought fundacion btw, like that guy was saying, the first 15 minutes were good, then it pretty much sucked..

Fundacion owns, the review, though funny in some parts, was meh.

Posted by iammesol on Feb-07-2006 18:02:

As much as I disagree with nearly everything he said, that was quite humerous

Lets hope this guy never picks up ASOT 2005.

fundacion defeinitely wasn't as good as involver

Posted by The 3am Junkie on Feb-07-2006 22:37:

fundacion > Involver
only a little bit better though

Posted by Clovis on Feb-07-2006 22:43:

aye. its alot funkier and less...boring. believe me I love involver but damn it can get tiresome.

that review was funny though. especially the last bit about sasha being naked in a room full of mirrors..

too bad it was WRONG

Posted by stevebutabi on Feb-08-2006 02:24:

the album imo is ok, not great- it does no justice to the MASSIVE fundacion nyc parties last summer... especially the one with zabiela, that one was out of control

nice!

I wouldn't be so harsh on Sasha, I'm not a huge fan of his Fundacion cd but I went to every night of his residency here in LA. The only part that gets me is when he goes into Holden's track...twice. I can't stand that song, when he played it at Avalon I had to head up to the patio for a smoke. And the fact that it was 14 mins long made it horrible

But all in all it was ok...Involver was way better though.

Posted by djGT on Feb-08-2006 07:43:

Fundacion was an enjoyable mix, but Involver has got to be my FAV album from Sasha, worth every penny. ok, so it was a gift certificate.

Posted by Omega_Blue on Feb-08-2006 09:01:

i agree that the first 15-20 minutes are the best imo. all the way until come to me.. then i start to lose a little interest.

still a great mix though.

involver has to be one of the crappiest mix comps ever. fundacion on the otherhand was pretty damn good.

tell me what's so good in a "mix cd" that has 10 tracks in 78 minutes mixed very in a boring way? you can hear the intro/outro beats of the tracks mixed for a long time between tracks and how fucking boring is that? the cd has no flow at all. it has nice tracks, my fav sasha tune for example "the youngsters - smile (sasha edit)", but as a mix compilation it sucks ass. and to think he needed ableton to mix it aswell!

fundacion is pretty much the opposite, altho it has the lamest/cheesiest intro i've ever heard.

Your either out of your mind or deaf to say Involver was "was one of the crappiest mix comps ever."

yes, that must be it. sorry i'm not an idiot sasha fanboy and don't think this mix compilation is special in any way.

at least i said why i think it sucks as a mix compilation, but so far i haven't heard any counterarguments whatsoever. tell me why it is so good as a mix compilation.
