I work at Nordea Finland Plc on Madison Ave, btwn 49th and 50th..

the pay is ok, (actually, btwn student loans, commuting expenses, "leisure" expenses , tickets from the "Man" and whatnot, im not savin as quickly as id like )

a lotta times i feel like id be a LOT happier being paid less, as long as i got to work in a field i was passionate about.

Yeeesss! I suggested to my supervisor yesterday that along with checks, we get paid in life hours.

It's pretty much the same with me. I'm in a cubical doing boring, and morally questionable shit at a law firm of a major pharmacudical company for hours ... except I work 'till midnight every day. By the end of the night I'm usually staring into space, sheding invisable tears as my soul withers a little more .

May I be the first to say:

I love my job.
I love what I do.
I love the place I work at.
I love the people I work with.

Please don't hate me.

But, yes, there are plenty of days when I just want to go home (especially Fridays which can never pass fast enough). I sit around reading TA and Fark all day long. I've had a couple of crappy jobs along the way but I'm now at a small company and don't really have to put up with any BS. While at my last job I took time to find a place that I really liked and fit in with before making the move. At the time I had the luxury of having a decent job without the *need* to jump to the first thing that came up - if you know what I mean.

bogartgreens, there seems to be a bunch of us in the midtown area. I'm only a block away from you - at 49th and 5th. We should do a TA lunch or happy hour sometime.

Hey, people that work! I was starting to think I'm the only kid that busts my ass around here

Fellow cube rat that's looking to publish very soon! You gotta stick to hopes and dreams. Put your mind to it, and make your wish come true. Until then, I'll be catching fraud criminals at my bank.

*sigh* Back in the cubical for the night. Some nights here I feel like preforming ritual samurai suicide. I will say though that I do like who I work with, I like the pay, and I like the office environment as opposed to back breaking manual labor. My company's responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. I spend most of the night fighting off law suits so that the victims and/or their families never get the settlement money that they deserve. It's not as bad as it sounds though. No, really, it isn't

Before my current job I was doing some data entry crap at UPS. Even though it was called a data entry position it still required lots of back breaking box lifting and handling in the 100+ degree warehouse but because of how much activity we had to do, the work day felt like it was over in 10 minutes. At the end of the day all that really got beat up was your body. Desk jobs require so much more mental strength as time seems to stand still on days when it feels like 20 minutes has passed but it's only been 5.

It's true though, I chose the cube for a reason so I can't really complain. The only really really negative experience I've had to deal with in the office was being sexually harassed. I swear I didn't think it was possible. Anyone had to deal with anything like that before?
