i have it on my comp. its a neat design and looks cool.
it does take up a lot of resources and i would improve certain areas that were changed from the current version.

I'd like to try it out! PM sent.

I have 5 invites as well. PM me for them. This Messenger version is pretty decent, but please remember it is in public beta and still not final.

Things I have found useful in the upgrade:

Things I have found that are still buggy in the public beta:

Also, once you start giving out invites, you keep getting more and they pop-up on your main contact window until you give them away. High on the annoyance factor.

Update: I don't have anymore invites, you can stop PMing me now Congrats to all who got one.

I've had it for a while now... It's not bad, I like some of the features it has.

For those of you who can't live without patching your msn to get rid of all the useless features, check out http://a-patch.tk. they got a decent WLM patch on there, gets rid of the ugly ad at the bottom at least.

Looks rather cool..

In between the new Internet Explorer that I installed earlier this morning and WLM, this'll take some getting used to.

Cool beans though.

PM sent.

My only complaint is that you can sort your contact list by name (complaint submitted to MS).

This is rich, I sign into the beta production site and the big orange "Download!" button is there... I can't click it.

Firefox hurrah!

Holy shite, at an idle, this new Messenger is running my CPU at 20% load. DOING NOTHING.

Awesome. I just got MSN 8.0 Beta (which looks exactly like MSN Live) and I really don't like it much. It's also using an insane amount of CPU while idle. Screw that. Back to 7.5. (Plus i don't like the fact that it's not showing the avatars in my contact list anymore. Blah!)

After 30 minutes of light usage, it's now sucking up 48MB of memory with zero contact windows open, and only having had 2 conversations for a few minutes.

Also when going through the contact list, due to the nice fancy graphics it rides the CPU load up to 100% doing basic things.

Something is wrong with your machine. Consider:

1) My entire system (with MSN Live running) idles at less than 5%.

2) Messenger Live only takes up 20 MB of memory on my system (Firefox 22 MB, IE 25 MB).

3) Big deal if your CPU jumps to 100% usage at times. That is why it is there (to be used). Be concerned if it sits at 100% for minutes at a time. Be concerned with page file usage.

* #1 and #2 are with uptime of about 8 hours, 6 hours of which have been with Messenger Live loaded and running (2 hours were pre-upgrade).

Invite plz

Posted by VERTiG0 on Feb-10-2006 03:43:

It must've been doing something previously, because now it's down to 2%. Memory usage on it is down to 42MB though.

On a sidenote, with my box being up for the past 17 days without a reboot, Firefox is using 331MB of my memory

Anyone here know anything about Adium? I plan to replace my family's computer with a Mac Mini and get Adium for my sisters to run their MSN instead of MacMessenger.
