Trance on Y100??

Just saw this in the Miami Herald:

Pump Up the volume
Good news for South Florida dance music fans who still haven't gotten over the demise of Party 93.1: Radio personality MarkyG and Y100.7 are teaming up to bring thumping beats back to the airwaves.
Dance music-mostly house and trance-makes its triumphant return from 9pm to midnight Sunday with the new show MarkyG's South Beach Dance Party.

Would have never guessed Y100 but hopefully it's good.

I'll say it cheeeeeeesyyyyyyyyyyyyy...but for all we know he might get Edgar or something to do a live set...geez people give the show 1 day at least...I'm pretty sure it will be utter crap but give it a day. Maybe just maybe we are surprised in some way. though i do agree with groove erics sets who needs the damn radio.

You people complain that there is not enough trance in this town.. but yet when a radio station announces that there is going to be a 3 hour mixshow (which by the way is the only edm show on Miami radio) you guys flame it. whatever. At least give the show one day before bashing it. Who knows.. if they get the ratings.. you maybe seeing a larger intrest in Trance in this House town.

we flame it cuz we know what they're going to play. its gonna be the same old cheesey shit every hour that gives our scene a bad name. hey if you wanna support that go right ahead, i on the other hand will gladly bash it. i'd rather have our scene stay somewhat underground than get bad publicity.

wow.. this board is filled with Radio managers. I had no idea. Since everyone on here can see into the future with radio.... can you let me know if Power 96 is going to be playing hip hop music in the next 6 months? That would be great if they switched formats. Flame it after the first show.

we've had this happen HOW many times? First Power 96 back in the day -CHEESE (except late nite lab which was on like a 2AM on Saturdays & that didn't last) then Party 93.1 & WTF happened to them? gee.

Y100 doesn't know what it likes to effing play...they go from pop crap to hip hop to alternative emo punk.

Who needs a clue? I sure as hell dont. At least I know a little bit about radio. Y100 is an "effen" CHR Pop radio station. Thats what CHR Pop radio stations play. They play Top 40 music (pop, rock, and rap). I dont think Ive ever heard a chr pop radio station play trance tunes all during the daytime.. if they did, they wouldnt have any listeners.... however, why not wait and see what they bring to the table before down talking it? Maybe they learned from the past. Maybe they are trying to reach out to the Suite and Mansion clubbers on Sunday night. Maybe it will be cheese... but damn, give it a chance to air before talking mad shit about it. thats all im saying.

- To be honest, I think its fair to praise it, as much as it is fair to bash it. It was because of Power 96's lunch mixes, where you heard the latest trance tunes of the time ( Im talking Push, Dumonde, Veracocha, Nalin & Kane etc etc material ).. that introduced me to the scene, that opened up my ears, that satisfied the apettite of music that I was searching for. They had the strong show of Late Night Laboratory that lasted for about 2-3 years. It was because of this mean of exposure that Im where Im at today, on tranceaddict. Now, I dont know what Y-100 will bring to the table, but they will be transmiting live from Spirit nightclub, will they go live on EdgarV??? Wouldnt that be a treat for all of us? especially for those that cant make it for some reason or another??.. especially to be able to record this.. thats a positive IF it happens.

- Now.. I also concur with the bashing. If they bring downsided crappy cheese DJ sammy music. then heck no, but I get to hear music that appeals to the Suite crowd, then I think its a good one.. I will critic once I get to hear the deal. Its just easy to jump and bash it cause Y-100 hasnt surprised me at all, and been part of clear channel makes you wonder.

indeed. we already know its going to suck unless they broadcast topnotch dj's. thats the only way its going to be a good station. at least its a way earlier time slot than what GDJB was.

I hit the vote top ten link and sent a little email with my opinion [which im sure they dont care about] and told them enough with the cheese....like Florida dont have enough local...national and international DJs that could come in for live mixes...he calls one song a mix
