Richie Hawtin & The Olympics

Hey, does anybody know if Hawtin already made his appearance? I just tuned in as the athletes are coming out, and it doesn't seem like he's on now?

Posted by Matt on Feb-10-2006 21:27:

as far as I know he just produced a track for the opening ceremonies, he's not appearing.

Posted by tatgirl on Feb-10-2006 22:25:

He produced the song that was being played during the ballet segment.
I dunno if anyone else saw it, or is 'old school' enuf, but that song DEFINITELY sounds like a remix or ripoff of an old song, whose name I cant remember....

At a press conferance today, it was announced that Mauro Picotto will be playing at OLYMPIC NIGHT on Feb. 18th in Turin. What's up with the Olympics getting DJs now?

Notte Olimpica - Olympic Night
Saturday 18 February 2006 - Turin
Featuring Mauro Picotto

The Olympic Night, an event combining art, culture and music, was announced today at a press conference in Turin. "La Notte Olimpica" will take place in Turin on the 18th of February and will entertain both the residents and those visiting Turin for the Olympic Games, with a series of events that will begin at 5pm and will go on for 12 hours.

The event will include the opening of museums, art galleries and cinemas throughout the night, in a combination of art and music with the presence of djs.

The final event for the Olympic Night will be taking place at Palazzo Nuovo, Turin University, featuring a live concert by French band Les Tambours Du Bronx, a dj opening set by Giorgio Valletta (Xplosiva) followed by Mauro Picotto, who will play from 2:00am until the early morning hours

i wonder if itll be just opening ceremonies or all that other crap they had before it started.

Posted by tatgirl on Feb-10-2006 23:27:

It should be just the opening ceremonies- its a 3 hr time slot, which is how long it took earlier today.

because unlike here, dance music is mainstream in most of the world which is why they have djs appearing instead of rap losers.

hopefully mauro plays a better set then he did on saturday, so he doesn't end his career completely

Article about Hawtin & his Olympics contribution
HERE

The song he uses in the compisition is his old F.U.S.E. track (ironically) titled "Substance Abuse" from 1991. I KNEW it sounded familiar....
