Love is in the air My new website!

Ok ok! So I've been bugging a bunch of you about it.. but it's officially up..and pretty much finished now!

I've been meaning to update this sucker for over 2yrs so pardon my giddiness. Alot of effort went into this.. like Carl Cox says in some DVD I remember watching... "U see what the dj goes through? Blood, sweat, and tears!"

Yes, yes...I also know IT"S ALLLLL FLASH OMG!! for those of you who hate flash only sites. If you don't have high speed by now..my site is the least of your worries. But, keeping that it is all FLASH into mind, I've made it simple and the navigation fairly straight forward.

Without further delay..I present. My own little peice of the world wide web

Checked it out yesterday, AND I LOVE IT.

I'm not normally a fan of flash sites, but it's wonderful.

I love it, Robbie! ^5

Well done.

By "Passed Events" did you mean "Past Events"?

Never heard the first expresion, could be a typo...

Very nice. I like. The photography is great, and the site looks very good/clean. Easy to navigate. Nice.

Criticisms:
- Some typos, etc. (affraid, afterall, some others)
- When the page first loads, there is a trancentury logo in the middle that moves up to the top left... the frame rate here is too slow and looks choppy.
- "click on link/save as" originally looked to me like "right click on link/save as", which of course doesn't work on a flash page.
- text (especially in the links section) doesn't look aligned.
- the LINKS button on the left sidebar is ~1 pixel too high. I should be able to see the black outline above it, and I can't. This button is also missing the drop-shadow you put on the others.

Hope that helps. I've used flash before so I know how much of a pain it can be to get things to work just right. But this is very nice. Good job.

Rad, but why do all Flash sites have to open a separate window? Fuck that noise, continue on in the same window/tab. If it has to open another window that I can't resize, I pretty much always close it.

haha.. awesome! thanx man. Constructive critisism is always much appreciated I like that. Yeah. I was kinda in a rush to get it up and running..so there's bound to be quite a few SPELLING errors. BASTARDS!! haha

Thanx for all the feedback..and comments guys

* edit: I specifically said to my self. No one will really notice that drop shadow, it's just too much trouble..meh! I'll leave it I said. lol you have a keen eye my friend

****edit: Ok..I've changed and adjusted all errors as mentioned above. However, I don't want to edit the "QUOTES" because that's exactly as they were written. I just copied and pasted them. What's the grammatical rule regarding that? anyone? If you're quoting someone, and there's spelling errors..do I correct them? or would that take away the legitimacy of the actual QUOTE?

Nice site. Simple layout, easy to navigate. just watch those spelling errors - there's one on the very first page.

I don't understand why the site took me so long to load when there isn't much media based content? Has it taken a few minutes for others? Had it not been for the fact its your site buddy, I would have closed it ASAP. Might want to look into the loading, don't want to lose fans/customers due to that.

No - you do not correct them. After the misspelled word thats being quoted, you simply put "[sic]".

^ Thats what you do in essays and reports.

Hope that helps if you care to use it, Robbie.

Very nice layout! Great Job! You use Studio 2k5 for this?

Posted by mute79 on Feb-11-2006 18:05:

great site dude!

Posted by Rodrico on Feb-11-2006 19:00:

nicely done website.

Posted by DJ_Elyot on Feb-12-2006 01:15:

There are gonna be a lot of [sic] in your quotes if you correct them that way. Also, it makes the people who gave those quotes look kinda dumb... which makes the quotes look less important because they're coming from that person (of course no offense... just that's how it will appear to the average site visitor).

You'd be better off just correcting them (and if you really care about the legitimacy of the quote, you can always just ask permission to correct them, etc).

Also, with respect to the load time, try resizing/resampling the images or decrease the jpeg quality (if they're in any other format, switch to jpeg for sure). Alternatively, you could try loading the larger images when the sub-page is opened rather than all at once at the start (bursts of short loads are better than one big long load).

Thanx for all the suggestions..and feedback guys. Afterall, despite it being My personal site... OTHERS will be the ones looking at it..and visiting. So it's great to get honest opinions. Thanx guys.

I'll go ahead and edit those quotes..minus the quotation marks. That should take care of that. I will eventually add my own history and background in there somewhere as well, but I hate writing about myself so I just thought I'd keep those quotes in there to fill the empty void. At least give people some info about me.

ALso for the load up time. I've been working on that. I've actually reduced the load time believe it or not.. I've made the pics quality smaller.. and tried to keep the content factor to a minimum so that there really isn't much to load. I'll see what else I can do.. i like the suggestion to have everything load in the background..while the main page loads..or the "short spurt" loading option. Once again...thanx for all the comments guys!

edit: oh yeah.. I really wanted to thank a bunch of TA"S who've helped me along the way with random scripts..or corrections..and general help when I've asked for it. SRSLY. u guys rock. u all know who u are.
