Jesus, that review was like watching a long turd come out of a dog.

All interviews with all djs are all the same.
So he has other people pre-make his ableton edits? Well, that's how I understand it, and that's actually lame.

| Originally posted by Clovis86 Yes and no. He has all the tracks that are sent to him chopped into loops, or track segments. So say he has Trentemoller - Beta Boy, its chopped up into intro1, intro2, break1, middle, break2, outro1, outro2. But if you were getting 100+ new tracks a week, help with sorting them out is needed. Because Sasha needs to listen to all those tracks, (or at least the ones he likes) to get to know them and think about ways to mix them, and being the lazy man he is, having to do all the editing would be too much work. Besides its not like the guiys doing it for him aren't getting paid. I pay my little brother to warp my ableton tracks...lol and when he fucks up I demand 5$ back. |
You should've just posted the link, rather than the entire interview. It takes away viewers from the site, and if the site is supported by advertising then they will lose money.

But how much time does that give him to really listen to the song and figure out how to place it in a set? Id rather hear a dj have a similar set to the last one I heard because it was full of great tunes and mixed well for the club to dance to. Not this, I gotta hammer out all the new shit as soon as I get it kind of attitude. Half of what Sasha plays is so boring.... ugh /rant. |

The only good interviews come from residentadvisor.net...all else suck.
I don't understand why so many people consider Ableton the root of all evil when it comes to Sasha these days? Do you really think his sets would be that much different musically if he was playing cdr's or vinyls?...
yes if it was vinyl.

I enjoy Sasha, I just dont know the music well enough to know when he is fiddling with the tracks in ableton or not doing anything at all. Ableton is great and it's the future but the only people that will be able to appreciate it is the die hard tune ID people because it is so seamless. When people are adding effects and doing tricks with vinyl/cd it is pretty obvious, not so much with Ableton.
I suppose it does come back to the "getting so many new tunes" thing because once the fans get to know a tune and realize it is being reworked or editted live the DJ throws the tune in the recycle bin. Im all for new music and a new experience but those "expected" songs are important, especially in Ableton to know what type of things the DJ is doing to the tunes.

| Originally posted by DOOMBOT Exactly what I meant to say. Couldn't because of my biased view towards Sasha in the first place. It is nice to hear new songs. I love experiencing a live set and catching a song here or there that blows me away and wondering what the hell it is! But what I love most is hearing that song that I already know and love and having my favorite dj lay it down on a banging club system. |

| Originally posted by Clovis86 Ya this is fun. The only thing is, when I used to be into trance way more than Sash0r...I loved hearing G&D Remix of No One On Earth. After I heard 6 trance DJ's play it in one month...it started to get a little old. After I heard every trance DJ I saw within a 6 month period play it, it got VERY old. When I saw Sasha in Vegas I recognized 4 tracks. The rest were all totally new, but totally HUGE. I only wish this set was recorded for you to listen to, because if you were to find it boring I dont know what I would say...it was fuckin bangin from start to finish. It was a four hour journey through a huge variety of sounds. Techy, Acidy, Electro, Big Prog, Dark, Dirty...you name it, it was everything. Theres a bunch of songs I wish I could hear Sasha play again, but hes moved on. It sucks, but hes finding newer music that is just as amazing as the older stuff... |
