Question Planning to go to california, Where to go : L.A or S.F ?

Hello m8,

Just planning to go to california and i was wondering where to go :

Should be only one week, so i'm not looking after a circuit S.F then yosemite, then, then, then ,then L.A.

I just want to go to the kewlest city with the most things to see from there evenly go to one or two stuff nearby (San jos or Vegas). But not travelling on car each day cos' one week is too short and will take off from the same airport we land.

So, i'm making a call to my community, the one who travels as obviously americans for telling me where i gonna have fun.

I've heard S.F is prettyer than L.A. L.A looks too big, too much suburbs...

From a French point of view, i would love to see L.A => all this american dream from rodeo drive to malibu to hollywood...

But i maybe wrong maybe it's not so much enjoyable and i should discover S.F...

As you see, i know nothing about it and all the guides of the world are nothing compared to TA community.

Cos i've to choose an hotel (it gonna be a 3* one, cos' now in europe we really have discount prices on it), Let me know about the best district i can stay for each city you advice me.

Any website of information truly appreciated

Cheers and thx in ad' for your contribution.

When staying in LA I really recommend staying at the Banana Bungalow! No locks to secure the door of your room, a pool you wouldn`t bath you cat in and really strange people from all over the world.... but they have a "Pool Party" each week, where they give out one keg of beer for free!

Lol!

ok well, the nite life in S.F. is mostly concentrated in one area...i think its called the "north beach"...nice women there because the city is do damn small heheh..if u like alot of hills, steep hills, then go to S.F....96% of the time there u'll be either going up or coming down a hill...they also have the world's 3rd steepest slope

also, there's sum amazing beauty in S.F...i mean scenery wise and chix wise...fuck just get on a bus there and within 5 mins at least u should see sum great looking women...u also dont need a car to have a life there....u can go to marin island (i think it's called that, i mite've messed up the name a lil bit), very beautiful scenery there..also the twin peaks...

as for L.A...the life here isn't of course all in one place...but i guess sunset blvd. has all of the best clubs...and the women are awesum...and i think u've got more touristy things in L.A. than in S.F, after all hollywood is there...but u will most definitely need a car...theres also the beautiful beaches...

so take ur pick

sf

SF is more concentrated fun
everythings all bunched up in one penninsula

more interesting landmarks and sky scrapers and stuff
SF is cool if you do it rigth
peir 39 has a great tourist thing going on with the hardcore clam chowder

I just got back from seeing both... like San Fran a LOT better. Just make sure you don't stumble into Oakland... b/c oakland is worse than L.A.... and if you get lost in Oakland, good luck finding an on-ramp to the friggin highway to get out... you'll get trapped.

I've been to both cities and I'd choose LA. SF is pretty cool since the hills + there is the Golden gate bridge & Alcatraz & super sea food... But LA has a special feeling which I cant explain. Hollywood, the film studios, famous places where many films took place.
this is my "Europien opinion".

well, i would choose to go to san fran over la. i live in marin, which is like 20 minutes outside san francisco, and sf is full of stuff to do. if you get some nice weather, i think its almost impossible to not keep yourself busy all day. haha, well, not impossible, i'm sure some people could get bored. but yeah, there is a nice night life, even on sunday nights, when my town shuts down for the most part. and i'm sure its poppin on friday and saturday. its a smaller city than la, which means that you can basically get where you want on a bus or by walking, which is nice because you don't need to worry about parking all over the place. some nice tourist attractions too. and if you like nature type stuff, right over the golden gate bridge there are the marin headlands, nice places to hike/bike.

anyways
just my two cents. have a good trip

Nice to get feedback from locals... S.F looks really as a place to see.

Is L.A really so huge, everyone is talking as if it was the big apple... Just wonder, and for those who went there, do hollywood, malibu, Beverly hills, etc worth the travel. Or is just crappy for taking money to tourist...

Taa - haaaa - aaaa, Ta - haa - aaa, you're givin' a new meaning to the word "delicious" => American dream

Thx again for all m8.
