I was going to post the same thing, but I think I might use this Valentine's Day as a chance to give back to myself. I think people can become so wrapped up in relationships that they have a tendency to forget about one of the most important relationships in life... You're relationship with yourself.

P.S. Yeah, I'm single & loving it! Plenty of time for "Valentines" when I'm 30.

heh, i know what you mean. i bought myself a new desk and a odyssey coffin stand for my own personal v-day gift =)

haha i have been saying that its just a commercialized day for a few years now. i think its a wasted day. but the women out there in general dont agree and make it a big deal.

I think Valentine's Day tends to become a "big deal" to women because of the expectations that our culture associates with the holiday. It is also a time that women naturally stop and evaluate their relationships. From a woman's perspective, it can be disheartening to see all kinds of romantic gestures being exchanged around you and not having a part in it, ESPECIALLY if they're in a relationship.

I agree that it is an extremely commercialized holiday and I actually think it means a lot more if a guy can be considerate and thoughtful on all of the other 364 days of the year. Of course, no woman would complain if a guy decided to do something nice for them on Valentine's Day or not! Just my point of view. Of course, I'm a woman who makes less of a "big deal" about Valentine's Day than most of the women I know, so I can't really speak for women in general.

oh...and it was BITCH to get the day off today too. I asked every one of my coworkers if they can cover for me. No luck. Finally I used reverse-psychology on someone and conned them into coming in for me. LOL.

The gf and I are have made it a habit to celebrate Valentines usually a couple days before or after. It gets way too busy to go anywhere on Valentines. We're counting down until the end of the week to celebrate our 6 year anniversary+valentines at Disney World! We had our first date at Disneyland so I thought it would be appropriate to celebrate at Disney World.

Oh! And I got her a ticket to come with me to see Sasha & JZ this Saturday at Avalon.

I brought my mom roses to her work, along with a box of See's chocolates, and also her favorite drink from Starbucks. She was stoked. LOL. The 2 lovely ladies in my life. haha

Jeez Curly! I think you should win some kind of award for doing all of that for your gf and your mom. You totally rock. Just don't over-do it, because you know they might be disappointed next year if you do any less, hehe.

Haha thanks. I hear ya on the disappointment thing. I left a little room this year so that I could come through even bigger next year. Haha.

I am one of those women who also believe that V-Day is totally comercialized. It is nice to recieve something V-Dayish on this day, but recieving it on any other day of the year is definitely great and may also be a bit more genuine. You are not getting something only because it's V-Day, but out of sincere love.
