Anyone get bored of their tracks?
Yea, I know this is why we all have this vinyl addiction. But money has been tight for me, and I stopped buying records for a while now. Because of my upcomming gig, I am listening over all of my tracks, and I just feel they are nothing really to DANCE to. You know? Maybe it's the fact that when I first got them, they seemed good and now they're outdated...anyways, looks like I'll have to be making a withdrawal from the bank!
Anyone else feel this way? That the tracks they bought, after being played a bit, get put to the back of the crate?

obviously that's slightly off topic. But the ability to play any track you have is seriously fun. You get to mix songs you'd never have thought of mixing before!
Same...
When I feel like I'm not into a song, I stop playing it for a while and I change it up... But then randomly I'll stumble over it and go...
"Wow what a great song! Why haven't I been playing this???"
Then I feel stupid... blah blah blah...
I think the key to keeping all of your songs fresh is to change your mixes according to what you're feeling at the moment... I find this helps...

Having said that, i couldn't afford buyuing tunes weekly as you said yourself it hurts the pockets! However, i'm in quite the opposite position at the moment! I'm actually finding it hard to choose which tunes to play right now as i just got Serato, obviously that's slightly off topic. But the ability to play any track you have is seriously fun. You get to mix songs you'd never have thought of mixing before! Just my 2p.. Fingers crossed you get a nice sum of money to get some vinyl! |

when i practice i just randomly pick cds that go well and pick songs on the fly
that way its always fun lol
beatmatch the beggining kick then crossfade... wait a bit... tune comes in... wow i havent heard this song in a while lol
its fun stuff
I get bored of tracks all the time... not to mention my tastes change a fair bit and then I will return to another genre which I am already well stocked in. It makes me remember why I loved the track so much in the first place.
As other posters mentioned, if you get bored of a song simply don't play it for a while, and come back to it one day when you're browsing your crate. Another thing to do is try the other mixes/songs on the record, maybe theres something on there you'd like and didn't notice it before. I have my records on a shelf and I always put the last played ones on one end, so if I want to see what records I haven't played in a while I look on the other end; sometimes it helps for utilizing your whole collection.
Mmmmmmmmmm, nope. I play the same tracks pretty much every day and have been for months. Still dance around like a jack ass while I'm spinning.
Something I like to do is 'wear out' tracks before I even buy them. I write down everything I want to get. Then I re-check samples on a regular basis. About half of my list I get bored of and I delete them after a few weeks. The rest tends to stay, and that's what I buy.
