[Epic, Melodic Trance] Illumin - Sweet Obsession

Here's another track for anyone to listen to and hopefully post some comments and feedback. I actually just sat down and put this together last night. It's at 137 bpm, which is way slower than the norm for me (143 bpm). But I think it fits. I think I still need to do some eq and filter work to the bassline, but I think after sitting and messing with this track for nearly 6 hrs straight, I shall take a break, go to sleep, and come back to it later. Thanks in advance for your input.

About the bassline, it's not bad but it still misses something. Like you said, maybe it needs some eq indeed. I like the sound that comes in at 1:25. That lead sound that starts in the break is very nice . Overall it's a very nice track, maybe not enough melodies or variation, but that's just my opinion

Thanks a lot, Bl@ckOut. I definitely agree with everything you said. I was originally going to add another lead riff in there, but then I came about the instrument and fx that I used in the break, and focused on that before taking a break finally and going to sleep. I will be working on some more variation today hopefully, along w/ getting that bassline sound right.

I think the bassline is too sine'ish. And too loud. I think morph of sine and saw would be better for your bass instrument. It will get more presense without getting too loud.
Keep it up

Cool thanks Artic Breeze...I really appreciate the suggestion and will give that a try today. Anymore suggestions would be great. Thanks all!

I like it. Not stuff I would play but for what it is...not bad at all. I agree with the others. The bassline could uses some work. It kind of bogs the track down instead of propelling...trying changing the wave form or equing so it sits better with your kick..the other sounds are good.

will do some more revisions later....thanks thee-O! More comments are appreciated. Thanks!

Having just listened to your other track, I'd say this one sounds alot better. Very nice bass sound early on. At first impression it reminded me of air for life

Nice groove going on with the kick/bass, good energy. I'm liking this so far.

At 1:50 right now. This is starting to feel a little repetitive. Those elements are good but you need to keep on layering stuff on top to keep it moving. Maybe some more pads or some kind of twinkly, bubbly arp or mid-high-range synth would do the trick.

At the break right now. This is starting to feel very housey.

I think you need something more in there. Somekind of melody over that bass and kick.

Thanks for the honesty Aquarian. You're definitely right about the repetiveness. I did add multiple layers to help progress the track, but i also kept the volume levels at minimal so they wouldn't be to overpowering, but at the same causing the track to sound redundant until the break. And to be honest, i guess with this track I'm experimenting a little to find my own direction with my music, a little housiness, electro, old-skool....etc etc etc. Especially after playing around with hadrian's effect (my other recent track), it's help break me out my old-skool sounding trend. But I will stay true to my trance roots, I hope?!?! Please keep a look out for a revised version of this track as well as my other, as I do look forward to more feedback from ya. Thanks!
