MoN-SooN - Oriental Impact (trance compilation)

Hi there!

I've done a new mix using appleton and I'm really satisfied with it. The idea was to select tracks which remind of oriental atmosphere.

To maximise your pleasure there are also covers (full resolution included in the archieve below)

MoN-SooN - Oriental Impact (79:14)

01 Digital Blues - Definition (MoN-SooN Intro Edit)
02 MoN-SooN - Shuwang
03 Armin Van Buuren - Song For The Ocean (Original Mix)
04 Ar52 - Hibernation
05 Estuera - Tales From The South
06 Leon Bolier pres. Supresa - Back In The Days (Original Mix)
07 Fabb X vs. Estuera - Global Mission Flow (MoN-SooN Mash-Up)
08 Jonas Steur - Silent Waves
09 Estuera - Moon Sugar
10 Nickelson - Yin (Solid Globe Remix)
11 Allure - The Loves We Lost (Vocal Mix)
12 Matt Darey - Eternity (Alex Morph Remix)
13 Signum - Push Through
14 Armin Van Buuren vs. System F - From The Heart

In the intro I've used some sounds from "The House Of Flying Daggers" OST with "Definition" and it goes really well IMHO. I hope it will get your attention. Next track is my own. Thats unfinished old track which I wouldn't play anywhere, but it fits to this compilation and is somehow similar to "Definition". Then we have two "mellow" trance tracks: "Song For The Ocean" and "Hibernation" (these inspired me to do the mix). The transition between them is almost 3min. After that there is a huge part of 'Estuerish' sounds. So many great productions by Jonas and I couldn't leave any of these tracks unplayed Almost all of his melodies remind me East Culture. Especially "Moon Sugar" . There is also a Leon Bolier track and my mash-up. Then we turn into a little more energetic trance. "Yin" with the melody from "The Last Samurai" soundtrack and "The Loves We Lost" with this mysterious vocal. After that it's Alex Morph turn. Great remix of "Eternity" again with secret weird vocals. Perhaps the most banging tune in this set. Then comes the classic from Signum. The last track is purely for contemplation. "From The Heart" is one of my all time favourites, a bit underrated by others IMO... music comes from the heart... I believe it's perfect to end this mix. Dunno why everytime I listen to this track I can see Jean Claude Van Damme meditating in "BloodSport" movie Haven't seen this movie for ages (15 years maybe), but it must have had similar melody in that scene

I hope you like the concept and realization. Please leave a feedback, review would be greatly appreciated. What you think about the intro, the mash-up... thanks in advance.

any thoughts on this?

haha, i just got done listening to this mix and was just about to comment and bump it for you.

really enjoyed this mix man. i really appreciate the fact that you have an original theme and inpiration for the mix. mixes with a good or well realized theme end up being the most memorable ones. rather than the mixes that just come about because someone wanted to shocase their new tunes and throw in some older ones for filler. really like the 'oriental theme' and it comes across very well. at first i thought the oriental thing was just an 'after-the-fact' gimmick, but with that wonderful intro addition and track selection, it's clear that this was very premeditated.

though i don't know how politically correct the term 'oriental' is now a days. but you prob dont have to worry about that in poland too much.

intro was excellent. went really well with the tune; i couldn't tell it wasn't part of the tune. very nicely done and what a great movie huh.

i really liked your track. not the most impressive tune but you were right; it fit really well in the mix where it did. i also like the melody in the track that hits around 10:35 in the mix. good stuff.

great track list, build/progression and energy. exceeded my expectations, very nicely done. the mashup is also very nicely done, quite refreshing. i always hate when people complain about rehashes or remixes of classic tunes. i personally love to hear familiar melodies and in a differen't way or complimented with other tunes. if done well. and you have, thanks.

your right about Moon Sugar as well. really nice tune there. and went SO WELL after Silent Waves. Nice work man.

rest of the mix is done very well; building up. didn't really like the transition to "loves we lost". seemed to drop the energy you were building up to that point. but other than that, superb mate.

i've been getting back into the more standard types of trance lately so your mix hit me just right. i was looking for a euphoric trance mix with a unique twist and this hit the spot.

it's nice to hear that you've noticed this. That's true. The concept was first.

haha, you've got me I supposed 'oriental' refers to 'Asia' not only in Europe. Am I wrong? What substitute would you use?
Talking about 'east culture' is meaningless too :-)

Thanks! To be honest this OST (two tracks used) worked almost immediately with "Definition". After key matching it was a pure pleasure to polish the intro with some filters. I like it and I'm happy you like it too.

Didn't expect to get such a positive feedback on this you are so warm-hearted, you can always find the pros and don't mention the cons

Some people may grumble about too much Estueras in a row I could have replaced one Jonas track with Under Sun - Captured... if it only got released. It's perfect for this mix. I also thought of using 3 Fingers - Frozen February (Flake Remix)
I'm glad you liked my mash-up, really keeps me motivated.
And yes, Silent Waves -> Moon Sugar is one of my favourite transitions. Actually almost every transition differs from each other. Sometimes I used additional subtle flanger while unkilling high frequencies. Tried and learned a lot of new things.

That is a good point about "the loves we lost". However, is it about transition or just big suspense pauses the track has? Maybe it should start a little later, after the first suspense. Thanks for noting this. (edit: ok I understand now you're terribly right "the loves we lost" just can't go after "yin", but switching these two tracks possibly would do the trick here. right? )

Nice to hear the mix has fulfilled your needs I recommend myself for the future
Big thanks for your deep review! You don't know how much I appreciate that

woohoo, quite a huge post with all these quotations

hye I listened to your mix Mon-Soon, and it wa svery Interesting.

From the begining I liek the intro, it sounds very original, and it goes pretty well with Definition.

I think there were a little bit exceed of Estuera songs.
Your Mash-Up it's very nice, I really Enjoyed it =).

Moon Sugar it's absolutely a Beauty, I felt in love witht hat Melody, it really captures my attention.
Then it comes the euphoric Yin, wich I really really Love.

The Loves We Lost, I think it was good for the Oriental concept mix, but the time you played it, I think it wa snot convenient.
you were playing Chill-Trance-Melodies, then you bring the energy with Yin, and then drop the energy with Loves We Lost.

Eternity is a beutiful Track, and brings a lot of energy back to the mix, sounds very nice.

Push Trough is a good pick, The Volume seems to be more loud than the rest of the tracks, that's the only thing.

Then You End up witht he beautiful "From The heart", I really like this tune, and Agree with you it's a bit underrated.
The Track it's veyr SImple, but for some reaosn it makes you feel very happy and relax your soul, Very nice Ending =).

Overall it's very good to listen, Transitions are very nice except for one, and the mix it's very Fluid.

Your Idea of the mix it's very nice, and that's very important, try to express something with certain sounds.

Thank You

WWOOOOWWW guys! thank you so much.
Such a good feedback from top TA djs!
I feel kinda embarrassed atm

btw. JohnPaullino how would you rate this mix with your marks?

and to Pepa:
yea, The Loves We Lost was supposed to keep the energy after Yin, but somehow it doesn't. We all agree (including djmetatron) that it is totally misplaced Thanks for a deep listen and review
