Good Strings VST
Can anyone recommend a good VST for huge strings?
If you want "real" strings you should maybe try orchestral, haven't tried it myself but I think it's good.
For electronic strings almost any synth would handle it, Fm7, Vanguard, V-Station and so on....
I am using StringZ (it's free) quite often. With some effects on it, it makes really nice and deep pads and strings.
I can also recommend Ugo's String Theory (it's also free). I use it to do guitar similar synths sometimes...
StringZ => http://www.kvraudio.com/get/2059.html
String Theory => http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1074.html
Search around on www.kvraudio.com and see if you find something good.
If your looking for like strings such as chellos ..violins..and such, i say go for Edirol Orchestral.
Cheese Strings Is Good For Pads, Kinda Limited Though.
Sound Patch's are good too I find, never used any big expensive string synths though, but I get by with Fruity Loops "String One Patch"

Spectrasonics Atmosphere <---- The best IMO, I have a mate who has built massive orchestral string pieces using it.
Linplug / Rob Papen Albino 2 <------ very Jarre style strings
or some good samples and a phat sampler i.e. HALion 3
For real-sounding orchestral strings, Edirol Orchestral is the way to go. It's small, cheap, and sounds awesome. It's not as good as a sampled library, but those are hella expensive.
If you can afford to a more costy VST, go for Halion String Edition, Sample Tank XXL 2 or East West Symphonic Orquestra Platinum.
These come with real sounding acoustic strings, for synthesized sounding strings, Atmosphere and Absynth 3.0 are the kings.
