One of the recent ebay auctions was won by a famous trance producer called Alex Bartlett (real name fabio) for 45. See here

if you're looking for a good jp emulation have a look here: http://www.rb2k1.com/rrsv2.htm

The only downside to that is you need an expensive program to run it. ie REAKTOR.

Posted by Final Call on Feb-19-2006 00:30:

lol yeah..with reaktor costing around 300-400..might as well try to just get a real JP.

You can't really compare it that way, there's a massive library free synths out there for reaktor.

Hm..yeah thats true...my bad

the sounds you'll get out of a JP sounds always a bit dated now. reaktor has much more possibilities to design new inovativ sounds. i would get reaktor over a real JP. (anyway, i've both of them in my studio)

The JP-8000 is basicaly Roland's attempt to copy their Jupiter 8 with a couple of extra functional bells & whistles, though super saw changed a huge part of what it was about.

Personally I think the JP8080 is a poor imitation of a Jupiter 8 (or MKS-80), but it's cool in its own right.

I agree that Reaktor is much more versatile, but to date it still can't do a perfect recreation of the JP8080, but RB2k1's ensemble will get you pretty close.

As for that plugin on ebay, like all synths it will have at least one sound it does really well that's unique to it(Paraphrasing Eric Perseng), but accurate supersaw isn't one of them..

well, you can do supersaws with reaktor. they sound different but i wouldn't say that the one on the JP is better, imho i like the reaktor supersaw a bit more as it doesn't sound as digital as the one on the JP.

Ross Jp emu kicks arse. Sounds even better with some decent patches in it.

Know where I can get any from Cyrus?

Kind of what I was saying. It's not the same.. :-)

YMMV
