REVIEW: Dennis Hahn and DJ Tygon (Tim) at Purple Room, Feb 17

Awesome night. Got in just after 10, had a few drinks, the whole crew showed up not soon after.

Long story short: The Purple Room was PACKED. Tim had a surprise for us all. He's playing his usual techtrance stuff, and then all of a sudden we hear Tiesto - Traffic come in... All of us look at each other, we knew this was it. Tim's surprise.
The entire crowd but us TAs up front were throwing their hands up freaking out and yelling "TIESTO! TIESTO!" and all that noise.
Dennis takes over right in the middle of the buildup... The music stops.
We hear a voiceover: "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. DJ TYGON DOES NOT HAVE ANY TIESTO."
The violent fervor stops, and the Tranceaddicts among us erupted in laughter.
It was really something else.

Just a great night, sorry we left early, everyone. Things to do. Early morning on Saturday.

im gonna say a few things

First, its pretty funny that what i said on the forum hurt you enough to take the time and make something like that. Made my night.

Second, im impressed by the performance, big improvement since last time.

Third, notice how the crowd erupted when traffic came on? just something to think about.

and to finish this for once and for all,

honestly tho dude ... open up your mind and start listening or paying attention to something else than top 40 trance ... i think u wud like it. i have been to purple room only a few times but i have seen dennis and tygon play a number of times and tonight was the best. i hope you do not take this personal in any means. and if you wanna listen to some " real " trance msg me and i will hook you up

it's more of an inside joke actually and the swarms of people requesting Tiesto.

amazing night yet again, thank you dennis and tim. it's always a great night when you guys are together on the decks. and tim when i ask for harder shit i want it god dammit.

other then the tiesto track my highlight of the night was that guy dancing something messed all night. it's seems that every trance night there's always some cracked out kid going nuts. i love it.

Alright i wanna say one thing now, im proud of you guys for beeing considerate. I wanna clear this for the last time, i requested tiesto only cause my buddy was spammin me the whole night to cause he was 2 shy. And i know u guys think i listen to top40 but really i just listen to what i like. Insane set tonight by Tim and Dennis, i cant wait to get the set cause theres a few tracks in there id love to have. I hope we can drop this thing now, im glad u guys had a few laughs and all. I had a fun night.

I kept looking over at the peeps dancing and they all had a grin from ear to ear! Very nice!! Track after track; it was so slammin! Great job guys!!!

3. The crowd erupted after some TAs started to chant Tiesto. I bet you about 3/4 of the people in the room wouldn't know a tiesto tune if it cockslapped them in the face. I love the fact that they appreciate the music, but I doubt they're in the stage where they know the tunes enough to differentiate between them.

PS: You did notice that it was a versus set? Tygon would spin a few tracks, then Dennis would for next few. For a quite a while, they were going one track each.

PPS: You gotta admit mate, it was wicked joke.

Alright. Proper review time.

Went to Aaron and Tim's lair around 7 ish at Aaron's urging to hear Tim working on the surprise tune. Suffice to say I laughed my ass off and knew that this night was going to be special.

Got to Rev and Dennis and Tim started off with some nice electro ish trancey stuff. Around 11, I was just about to get in the mood when suddenly bunch of people show up from nowhere taking away my dance space. Sorry Kelly for almost kicking you in the face! I thought I had enough clearance room

Here's my version of the surprise tune. Tim and Dennis were going hard, tech trance bombs. Suddenly Traffic starts to play. I looked at Cale and he's like, is Tim playing Traffic? Laughs start among the TAs and the rest of the crowd is like, why are they laughing? (PR inside joke is Dennis and Tim keep getting Tiesto requests and well, their opinion of tiesto is not flattering)
Jay (Platipus) starts a Tiesto chant which was picked up by Tim and the rest of the crowd realizes that a Tiesto tune was being played. They go wild. They dance.
Suddenly everything goes quiet as Tim's special plays out which went, "Ladies and Gentlemen, DJ Tygon does not have any Tiesto and that is just unacceptable" and some hard techno tune kicks in. (ID Tim?)
Aaron and I were laughing our asses off because we were in it from the beginning and it went actually better than what we expected.

Anyways, the rest of the set was pretty banging stuff. Jenn, YOU MISSED OUT! Funny part being Dennis was trying to switch to more trancey tunes and Tim keeps putting on banging tunes for a bit, cuz tim don't play much trance. lol
Some real bombs in this set and while there were few sketchy transitions, overall everything was awesome. I'm looking forward to DLing the set when it is ready.

I highly doubt that what you said prompted Tim to make this. It has been a running joke with all of us long before you even registered on TA.

Dennis and Tim, the dynamic duo. Omg you guys are crazy The tunes last night fit the mood I was in Puuuurrrrrrrfectly Aaron, did you notice I couldn't stay gone long? It was too much in the PR to stay away long. Then taking a time out in the washroom and hearing Traffic coming out of the speakers?! I walk up to Dennis and said "WTF"? He told me it's Tim's surprise, to wait a little longer. That was too funny Tim Aaron had tears in his eyes we were laughing so hard hehe. I love PR trance nights. Thank you Dennis

Holy mother of god I had such a wickked time!! Got to rev pretty early...10am to be exact (thanks to my crazy driving from T.O. to Waterloo)

Great to see everyone in full forse...(even myself yeah it wasnt my best dancing night as the drinks got the best of me) nevertheless I danced my ass off as best as I was able to.

Lisa and Cale....glad u geeks stayed at least passed 12 am
