Earplugs
So I notice I've been going a little deaf with constantly being exposed to loud music. Any reccomendations on ear plugs and what decibel level they should be at?
there was a thread about this pretty recently. I ended up buying a pair of ear plugs from etymotic, the ER20s, which alot of TAs apparently use. shipped to my house in two days.

you can spend all that money on those special earplugs but the foam ones i have no problem with. i can still hear everything + there next to nothing.

As most of you know, I sweat a lot (hence the towel).
I find that the foam ear plugs sometimes pop out of my ear. Dan, you bob your head around a lot when you dance--have you ever had problems keeping these hi-tech puppies in your ear?
^ lol! I still havent even used them to be honest. I hate having something in my hear, which sounds retarded I know, cause I bought them, but yeah lol. Eventually I will try them lol

i never really liked earplugs in general..never used them when i went to events either.
have you guys heard of the dj frankie wilde?

I use ER25's they are custom fit. Not cheap, but completely worth it. Gotta keep your hearing in tact, once you mess it up, you can't fix it, and I never wanna stop hearing music.

I'll probably have some for BeB, just for use in areas where speakers are piercingly brutal. So it depends where I'm standing (or dancing) at the time. Otherwise, I'll mostly have them out.
I'm glad that theres a listen up canada about to open in my city. I'm hoping to go there and get a hearing test, just to check stuff out, and also to get custom fitted (eventually) for some musician ear plugs ($150 - $200 roughly I think)

ya i think im gonna start wearing earplugs, i find that i get ringing ears for several hours after i get home.
I always bring a set with me... don't always use them but always have em just in case, some clubs are just too loud some really don;t know how to tune their systems. I've stopped going to some clubs regardless of who is playing if they have a crap system set up.
BTW: I was in a Lowes today and noticed that they have identical plugs to the ER20's linked to in the second post... but Lowe's only wanted $3 for thiers with the same decible rating.
I have a pair of the ER20's and bought a pair of the lowes ones and next time I'm out I'll do a comparision... but they feel the same.
i like the idea of bringing ear plugs incase it gets too loud.
i might start doing that....and if lowes really does have them for $3 i would probably pick up a pair.
I don't know which ones I used this weekend in New York...but whatever they were, I'm purchasing as soon as I get some money. It was the first time I'd ever used ear plugs in the club, and I actually PREFER the sound. You can enjoy the music better. When I had to take them out, I cringed at the noise level.
I originally wanted to use them b/c I had just recently watched It's All Gone Pete Tong...and when I was on my way to New York my one ear started hurting. I knew I wasn't going deaf, but people who know me well, know that I get all uppity about little things like that, so I borrowed someone's ear plugs. I'm glad I did b/c I never want to go to a club without them now!
