San Francisco -- Police are searching for the person responsible for fatally shooting one man and injuring another earlier today in a crowded club in San Francisco's South of Market District.

Police responded to 1015 Folsom, a club located on Folsom Street near Sixth street, at 3:30 a.m. after people inside the club reported hearing two to three gunshots, according to San Francisco police Sgt. Neville Gittens.

Inside the building, police located an injured man on the club's lower level. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 4 a.m., Gittens said.

A second man, who was shot in the left elbow, was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Gittens said.

Police are currently interviewing people who were at the crime scene, according to Gittens, who said the club was "very crowded" at the time of the shooting.

The San Francisco Medical Examiner's Office is withholding the name of the man killed pending notification of next of kin.

Police ask that anyone with more information regarding the shooting contact the Police Department at (415) 575-4444.

Likewise. Sympathy for the victims, their family and the club owners.

What would possess somebody to bring a gun to a club?

Whelp, one person who had VIP has said they weren't searched at all. Someone else who had a normal presale said they weren't searched at all, either.

Mayeb the shooter had one of the above? If he was searched, probably just hid the gun well.

sad very sad...its to bad to see something like that go down..i still don't see why that club was not shut down after that...they should have shut down the club after that for everyones saftey...

i hope this makes SF club promoters make stricter searches, becuase most searches in SF are a joke....i could bring a missile launcher into ruby skye and no one would ever no.....

sad

you mean to tell us that the music continued playing despite the fact that someone was shot and killed? damn, 1015's going to get some shit for this

My God, this is awful news...

Glad I didn't go, but I feel really bad for everyone there.

That's so sad. One of the reasons why I don't feel completely safe at Avalon (LA) is because last year a guy who was uber-wasted was showing off his gun to me and Michelle and he said he would use it if he needed to. The guy is a regular at Avalon too....

so then why didnt you tell security? thats just irresponsible if you know that he is a regular. i mean if you see him once and tell them and never see him again its different. but if you see that bastard there after that you should definately say something.

...and they shootings only happen at Hip-hop clubs

Posted by TheMETHOD on Feb-20-2006 01:14:

Thats really unfortunate for everyone,

I hope they catch the shooter, it's events like this that make for the super strict security that everyone complains about... get ready for airport style security coming soon to a club near you.

No winners here.

Well the club was over crowded and there was many rude people for the first time I saw about 4 fight broke out in the main room.. People where moshing .. From what the cops told me the shooting happen in the basement. I must admit that last night was a crazy night. The shooting at the club then someone was laying dead on the bay bridge.

he weird part is that 1015 always has tight searches but last night Nothing, Zip, Nada..

I hope that 1015 dont suffer from this tragedy.

I hate to say this but I WANT TIGHT SEARCHES Even metal detectors
installed to insure everyone's safety.

One cop ask this girl next to me "Are you ever coming back" and the girl said "Ohhhhh definally not this club" I responded that I would and the cop said "Well good luck to you"

Sad...

this is sad...

and mr stroke you are right, i think i was patted down once at ruby long ago, but ever since i've never been searched. you could sneak in like a couple kilos of coke in with ur missle launcher and the bouncers would just look at your id and move you along.

Posted by DjWoody on Feb-20-2006 01:29:

Once the shooting happened, did they stopped the club or did it keep going?

I know what you mean. Seeing Armin, Rank1, etc at Circus in LA last month was a first for me and having metal detectors made you feel comfortable...

The shooting happen at around 3am or so according to the news..

Paul Van Dyk played till 4:15am or so .. The main room was crowded no one knew nothing, I decided to leave at 4:45am then as I started to walk out notice no more music on the front from, which is weird since the club was crowded, I ask my friend lets go to the basement
but saw security guard not letting people in.. and that is when I notice the long lines to get out .. they where letting one person at a time to be interview and to show ID..

There was music still playing LOUD in the main room and in the room upstairs...

I think in a way this was a good thing because if not people would have panic.. the way the had it people where surplise as to what had happened..

Trust me, I wanted to say something but the guy is somehow involved with the club, a promoter or one of the owners so the security wouldn't do anything. And we know how bad the security can be at Avalon....
