Seattle Clubs

Hi guys,

I will be in Seattle this weekend - well, saturday and sunday - and wondering if anything is going on Saturday night? Any good djs coming to town?

What about clubs? What are the good clubs in Seattle for a Saturday? Im looking for a place that plays progressive, house, or trance...

Websites, etc...

Also, what are good touristy things to do on a Saturday - during the day...

thanks!!

Steve.

this is a tough question.

first of all, hopefully you are 21+, because there are no clubs (except 1 or 2 evil booty ho ones) that are not 21+ (legal drinking age here).

since i am not 21 for (as it turns out) 21 more days, i cant help you much with where to go, but i CAN tell you there are no trance clubs, at all here.

so heres what you should do..

go to
http://www.nwtekno.org/

post in off topic discussion (and im a mod in there so ill respond telling other mods not to move it, its the forum that gets the most traffic)...

and in that thread ask what you just asked, ask about the clubs and which ones would be good to go to. people on there could give you far more advice than i.

nwtekno also has a calendar of events, for clubs and parties, so you could check out whats going on on those days.
as far as touristy things, hmm. im pretty bad at thinking of that kind of stuff... you could always go to the space needle cuz its a tourist attraction, its in downtown.. and in that same little area is the pacific science center which i personally think is really neat. also in the complex is the experience music project, its this crazy looking strange building which is music history inside. i havent gone in but i guess its really neat. so yea, you could do 3 things just in that area!

and if you are in that area, theres a chinese place like, one street down that is SO GOOD. its called bamboo garden, its vegetarian chinese which sounds odd but you order chicken something, and it really does taste like chicken. its neat. the sweet and sour is to die for. all my friends in seattle love it

theres an aquarium down by the water which is fun (there was a party in there once). if you want to just walk around, broadway is a fun street to walk down. lots of strange people and neat clothing/music stores. i get most of my clothes in stores around there actually.

so hmm. thats all i can think of for now. email me at [email protected] if you have any other questions, and please go to nwtekno.org and ask about clubs there. you will get tons of good suggestions

your best bet would be to go to the showbox (21+ and its a meat market) because taylor from la (trance) and federal, a local (also trance) will be spinning. so you can get your trance fix.

the all ages raves...other than that, Polly Esthers on Sunday nights is top 40 (18 and over) and some older 80's stuff ,...and of course DV8...i know DV 8 had played some commercial electronic stuff a few years back....check www.nwtekno.org and click on events and check out what's happening in the area....

btw, thanx to sothis for that link above

heh.. juricimo ive given that link lots of times and no one goes to it

as far as "all ages", the best you will get is 18+. fx of course has things going on every friday night, but not a lot of people go there anymore that used to go all the time, because its pretty shady. i guess a lot of stuff has been changed tho since the last time ive been there, new management, who are really trying to fix the place up. "nucleuz fridays" are going on all the time now.. this friday.. yummy jungle.. mmmm

and yea, then theres dv8 which is 18+ but its a total meat market (think meat market but for 18 year old kids, not 21 year olds.. its gross). i dont even know if they have electronic night anymore.

also, the spot is all ages i think but i dont know if they are having events there much anymore. its all jungle tho. and then of course, parties.. which all tend to suck around here.

your best bet is just to go up to canada if you want good trance

and steve: vancouver is about 2.5 hours from seattle. make sure you have a passport or birth certificate with you because they are pretty mean at the border now. wave to me when you pass b ellingham hehe.

there are two sites you can check for info on events up there,
http://www.teamhardcore.com
http://www.clubvibes.com

you probably wont find any trance nights, but sonar has a good sound system (tho i think fridays are hip hop ew), 7 alexander is ok, the lotus is ok (tho in a sketchy area of town), etc etc etc.

Jester

I think its funny how Americans act like 18 year olds are sooooo young. They are treated like babies down there. When your 18 up here you are forced to (try to) act like an adult and have the R n R's (rights and responsibilties) of an adult.
"think a meat market for 18 year old KIDS.... it's gross."

lol, hahaha

But I guess when i was down there (U.S) i did notice that the kids are generally less mature then up here. i met some 21yr olds who acted like 15yr olds up here in Canada, what's up with that?

Posted by sothis on Jan-25-2002 00:31:

te ka, thats because your "legal" age is two years younger than ours.

since the age of being legal here is 21, yes, 18 year olds arent given as many clubs, etc. for you, its 19.. so i can understand why they would be treated differently for you canadians.

as far as maturity, yanno, i could go off on many stories about things i dont like about canadians, but its all trivial, you know? you talking about how people in washington are immature, thats a very blanket statement that im sure you know has no validity. people anywhere can be immature, whether its canada, washington, europe, etc. the people you may have ran into may not have been the best people (just like there have been many, many times ive gone up to vancouver which has given me a not-so-great opinion about canadians), but that all has to do with the people you happened to run into, not a country or state's entire group of people as a whole.

so i dunno, please dont use generalizations like that. i could pull out some of my own that im sure you wouldnt be too happy/agree with. people are people.

Posted by Te Ka on Jan-25-2002 00:57:

"notice that the kids are GENERALLY less mature then up here. i met some 21yr olds who acted like 15yr olds up here in Canada, what's up with that?"

For one Sothis I said generally, that does not mean everybody, it means some people. And thats just what i noticed, u don't have to like it, i just said what i thought. But don't threaten me with possible stereotypes about Canadians because:
1. We have just as many if not more for Americans
2. I didn't mean to offend you or any Americans on this site and,
3. We don't want to get into a country vs country battle because that would be dumb and IMMATURE.

so lets just drop it!

i wouldnt have said anything had those comments not been made in the first place.. shrug

Posted by Te Ka on Jan-25-2002 01:24:

Key word=(GENERALLY) Did you read my last post? I guess you just don't understand...shrug

Posted by sothis on Jan-25-2002 01:32:

i read what you said yo, i wasnt commenting on that, i was just finishing the argument with saying why i said something in the first place.

Posted by JM on Jan-25-2002 05:18:

ok ok...boyz and girlz....

i notice that if you treat ppl like kids, they dont think they're responsible enough they will lower their expectations of themselves and might act foolish and immature....

my 2 cents (canadian or us...dont matter)
