Sissoko to retire ?
Liverpool are sweating over an update regarding Momo Sissoko's eye problem with fears growing that it could force him to retire.
The powerful midfielder suffered damage to the retina of his eye after being accidentally kicked in the face by Benfica's Beto during Tuesday's UEFA Champions League defeat in Lisbon.
Sissoko was forced to spend a night in hospital in Portugal with the injury and clinical director at the hospital Joao Paco admitted there is a chance the player may lose sight in his eye.
"The prognosis is guarded but vision is going to be compromised on the right side, it may be 80 or 20 percent, but we can't say yet," said Paco.
"He suffered trauma with bruising to the eye but there was no apparent destruction of the structure."
The former Valencia ace is expected to undergo more tests on his eye on Thursday as Liverpool look to find out the full extent of the problem.
I feel bad for the guy, I just hope he's ok
Nobody deserves this... well, maybe Jens Lehmann or Fabien Barthez
Awful injury, I'm absolutely gutted for him, he's had a fucking brilliant first season so far, looks to be one of the shrewdest signings we've made in the last 10 years.
Get well soon momo
strange as it didn't look nearly as bad on the pitch.. losing sight in one eye?
hope it doesn't confirm and the guy gets back to the game soon
Just a crazy freak injury really, I think the player did get booked, his foot was stupidly high, but it just shows how sometimes a crazy little thing can have a massive effect. Nearly every game someone puts a foot too high at some point, Momo was really unlucky this time, but this goes to prove why we need the rule I suppose... Hope he's able to continue

I feel for the guy, he's 21 & been told he may not be able to carry on, i mean that has to be gutting.

he might lose 20 to 80% of vision
i hope the kid recovers
Mohammed Sissoko was a really great signing for Liverpool and that's because he was actually playing amazing from time to time in Valencia the season before. I highly appreciate this player and I'm truly sorry he may be ending his career because of this eye-injury.
Like you're mentioning here, Sissoko is only 21 and he's had some major injuryproblems since he turned pro. Does someone of you remember that he broke his leg in a Valencia match a while back?
I hope he recovers and makes a great comeback. It's sucks to see this kind of things happen.
^I had no idea about him having injury probs like that Zoric
I'd never seen him play until we signed him
Yep. He's a choice for the future even though he was injured for a very long time at Valencia. So yes, He's had alot of problems with injurys before this one, even though this one must be the worst.
But still, I know a swedish Icehockey-player who's recovered from a major sightloss and he's now playing in the NHL. Mattias Weinhandl lost about 90% of his sight on one eye after getting a stick in his eye. Luckily, he recovered. So, I still have hopes for Momo to recover.

| Originally posted by InterMilan31 he hasnt recovered he plays for my fav team so I would know that he goes for surgery once every 2 weeks. Its a surgery that dusts off his eye! No joke his eye now is somehow more prone to buildup inside the eye ball/socket so they need to dust it off...... He was the top scorer last year in Europe until this happend now he is a totally different player....so sad This is bad for Sissoko him and Fadiga have horrible luck |
Accidentally kicked in the eye? That's just bad luck. Hope he recovers soon.

Man, didn't know that Sissoko was so bad after Beto touched him...
really hope he gets better and back on the game
He's back here in Liverpool getting round the clock treatment from eye-specialists. Apparently there has been some "encouraging improvement" over night! Fingers crossed Momo
ive seen momo play a few times and the guy looks very good ...quality defending midfielders of his age are next to impossible to find and its a crime to have your career cut short at such a young age due to an accident such as this
wishing him a speedy recovery
TA wishes him a speedy recovery.
Theres a current Hibs player who only has one eye, can't remember his name at the moment!

does he wear an eyepatch?
He's not going to play and hasn't been playing since December from what I've heard. I don't know how it's going to look like when he's made his operation, if he already has..
