Post your setup [pics]!

DJ setups are just plain cool - no one can deny that

with that being said - post a pic of your DJ setup, tell us a story about it, and tell us what you think of the equipment.

I dont have a setup (yet) but want one bad the equip. in the pics below are a good friend of mines who was nice enough to let me use them last time I visited.

Dont ask about the ski goggles. And yes, my underwear are hot.

The funny thing about this pic, is that if you look, 3 of 4 channel volumes are off, and the arm is not on the record I rock.

LOL

This was my old set up...in my previous apt:

Then I moved...

I don't think I have a pic online of my current set up, actually.

wow - 3 tables - i cant even do one !!

Posted by Skipper on Feb-23-2006 14:02:

hehe

Techno demands 3 tables IMO...however my third was a numark, not a 1200, which is why I don't have it set up anymore. I was going to buy a third 1200, but I've decided my next purchase is going to be a CDJ, which will still provide me the ability to play on a third channel.

Posted by simms327 on Feb-23-2006 14:03:

what kind of numark?

i was looking at TTX-1

you can find them cheaper than tech-12s

my babies back in Vancouver.

^^ nice powerbook - i have the 15" (older version)

what exactly do you use it for - do you use mixing software, and if so, which one?

i was looking into using DJ-1800 on my pb and a setup similar to yours. any recommendations - tips - etc?

edit: i can see you have the Numark DXM06 (or similar) - how is that working out? I was thinking of a DXM01USB as then it can hook up to the powerbook for better pc-conncetivity.

Posted by alefort on Feb-23-2006 15:19:

FYI, there is a thread in the DJ BOOTH forums for this exact purpose, why start a new one? Seems kinda pointless to me...

Posted by simms327 on Feb-23-2006 15:22:

yeah i just noticed that

http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...&threadid=52388

sorry about that - i had no idea

well id still like answers to my questions above - so i will leave this and let it die eventually. my apologies

its pretty hard to mix with a mouse, i personally wouldn't go for it if it didn't support a midi controller but that depends on what are you going to use it for.

good eye!! yup its the Numark DXM06, if you're just starting then its pretty good but once you get the hang of it you would want to upgrade.

Thanks! Those lights are from ikea... got em for like $14 each.

Plus they're on dimmer switches... so I can have softer lighting depending on my mood when I'm working on music.

Still planning on hanging some pictures around the room and a large area rug to help reduce the resonance in the high frequencies.

nice work space, i like now neat everything is. yeh totally called those being ikea lights nothing but.

the only thing wrong in that pic is it looks that speakers may be set up a bit low? i wish i had a room to make music though, i have decent gear, but i'm in my parents living room

Actually, the desk is pretty tall... You can see the additional boxes I built under the speaker stands to A) absorb any additional vibrations and B) to bring the speakers exactly up to my ear level when I'm working. When I sit back in my chair I'm in the "sweet spot".

It's working very well so far!

i just took this pic right now of my setup

http://photobucket.com/albums/e196/Bruuen/?action=view¤t=IMG_1186.jpg

event tr-6 speakers
presonus firebox
m-audio radium

software:

cubase sx3
east west symphonic library gold
stormdrum
atmosphere
a couple others and sample libraries

major improvements to be made in the future:

two 19inch lcds
obviously will require new desk
and get the fuck out of my parents living room lol

Posted by djbruuen on Feb-23-2006 18:16:

yeh they're nice, not for producing though, i just use them for listening to crap when its late at nite and stuff.

the other ultimate is the playstation controller hooked up to my computer i don't even really play video games that much, but when i do, its so much better being able to play them wish a ps controller on my pc

Very cool... nice speaker stands. That's a great idea with the foam.

I was going to go with 2 19" LCDs too... but this Gateway is more than enough for now. 21" HD widescreen with a very high res. The idea was to buy this one now and then a second when I have some more money again (*ahem* engagement rings can be expensive.. hehe). I like gaming down there too... so this was the best option. Also has S-video inputs for my XBox/digital cable box

Posted by Abercrombie on Feb-23-2006 19:39:

My old setup is in boxes and crates. Would anyone be interested at what a home setup used to look like in the late 80's, early 90s? I'm sure I have a pic or two somwhere, but I'll have to dig it up.

Things were crude, and very little people were into this trade back then. AND NO FUN AT THE HAIR!
