Out Of The Past - Mystery [Captivating Sounds]

The duo Fred Baker and Vincent Grozac have teamed up for this release on Captivating Sounds. Personally, Captivating is one of my favorite labels. They release quite a broad spectrum of music with tech-trance and often, tribal twists.
Anyways, this comes in 3 mixes.

Fred Baker Vs. Vincent Grozac Mix - Fred-baker style snare/hi-hats. A good balance of a decent bassline and not-too-melodic-not-too-cheesy breakdown.
Nothing groundbreaking, but a decent track nonetheless, worthy of a few plays. - 7/10
Listen
Hard Mix - Nearly the same as above with the exception of a hard-trance/NRG bassline. Nothing special - 7/10 Listen

Revolution - My pick of the lot.Very nice tribal-trance and a potential floorfiller. - 7.5/10 Listen

Overall, good value for money as you get 3 mixes on one piece of plastic!

you forgot to mention that it heavily samples Union Jack - Two Full Moons and a trout.
Fred Bakers uses his normal dutch tech trance bassline which by now is more boring than anything else in this world.
This could have came out better if he dropped it.

It may not have been so boring had BlackHole released it last year before Fred ended their association.

Anywayz - Tijs playlisted both A & B sides in early 2005. Says it all really. That no wonder its sounding a bit stale now. Never mind the other 10 or so tracks Fred made since with that same offbeat kick.

Yep. This is true and you can clearly hear it.

I still think it's quite cool though

I prefer this to any of the new remixes of 2 Full Moons.

I only liked the Tektonik remix a bit, but it's nothing compared to the older remixes. This track though, is pretty cool even though it has samples from 2 Full Moons.

the version tijs played was so much better too.. the breakdown on the released mix just doesn't have the same effect

this is one of the negative aspects of releasing a tune as late as 1 year after it was first played. people simply won't open their eyes for it. and in this case Platipus saw what was coming and counter attacked with updated remixes of Two full moons and a trout (which unfortunatly was poor).
Labels should be much quicker with releasing their stuff.
Shame on Vandit and J00F in other words.

Heard it way too many times last summer and into the winter months. Fred Baker's bassline sucks now imo
