[Progressive] Guicy J - Rocksteady (Main Mix) (128kbs)

Here guys, my first full production. Some of you may remember the remix I did for Ricky M or might have bumpted into my mix of Ian Brown - Kiss Ya Lips. Anyway, this is Full on progressive, very techy. Made all in Reason. Link below...

Guicy J - Rocksteady (Main Mix) (128kbs)

Also, please remember you trancers that it's a progressive track called Rocksteady so don't expect a huge synth lead or hook thats gonna blow your face off into sonic heaven.

Thankyou kindly, Rock n Roll!

Verdi.

cool track
I dig

The percussion could do with some work, but I love the detuned pads, great sweeps too, they really add a nice spooky atmosphere.

Also, the mastering could do with a tad of work, the sweeps are a bit too loud - although listening at 128kbps doesn't help the song.

Hey... The groove is pretty original. The drum sounds need some work though. You could try for example another hihat sound than the on which come at 1:00...Also the bass drum could have more subbass, now the drum sounds make the whole track sound little bit amateurish. Otherwise the track works pretty well... the sounds are deep and fat... thats good!! The break at 3:00 comes imo too suddenly... The atmosphere is the best part of the track, spooky enough...

Cheers, Lakeus

Funky little intro.

I like how your rhythm synth comes in slowly. Wonderful way to put me in a trance.

I can't say I dislike your percs, although they do lack some originality. They're fine for giving a feel in the intro, but it'd be nice to hear a more complex percussion layer later on.

I like your synth layering and the way energy builds and wanes in this track. Very nice.

Nice long intro. At the start I started to think it would just stay like that and turn out to be a newby track. But it progressed and started to impress me. Nice reversed chord.

The saw pad in my left ear gives a lot of space to the track, but starts to get a bit irritating.

A few words of critical nature tho. Your sounds are very clean and simple. A little too clean. Get some effects, automations and dynamics going to make it more interesting. Have different channels interact with eachother through group channeling. Don't be lazy, throw yourself in the deep end and try the complicated stuff out.

I'm missing intro's and outro's. There's a few ones there, but no whacky ones that make my eyes turn in there sockets.

Anyway, good work. Keep it up.

Hey Gaz

Sorry I took so long mate.

Nice kick from the start, something less standard. I'm liking the direction this is taking a lot...starting to come together nicely at around 1.30.... Amazing acids at around 2.20, sounds really cool. Building up nicely now, I think the bleeps could do with a bit more power, or be a bit more upfront in the mix.
I agree with Richie though, this would be amazing in a club. Get this mastered then try some labels! This would be great move to in a club.

Good work gaz

The clap is too dry.
The bass is ok.
Nice sweeps but they are too loud.
Donnu for some reason I find this a bit boring.
It lacks vaiation.

4/10

cheers for the comments though dudes

upon further listening i would say a 9/10 now..

great stuff but i think you need to remake it into a shorter and more varied version. cut parts out hear and there and itll sound more varied and interestin. i love the mix of sounds in this!

Posted by Verdi on Mar-26-2006 14:59:

 cheers dude, will look at some kind of edit. Unfortunately, the computer that it is on has virus or is corrupt and until i get some cash together i'm gonna have to wait to rescue the parts

Like the overall feel of this track, sadly cant comment on any aspects of audio as i'm listening on a pair of low quality speakers in my folks house.
