whats comersial theese days?

what does a budding producer on here really feel about what you say is comersial?

point im trying to make is i have listend to trance music all my life and some of my fav songs became what i thought was comersial, i still do like the ocasional cheese tune, but i just love trance and want to know what you consider to be chedder to proper theese days?

i have and do buy every clubland cd but also every trance masters cd, euphoria collection, gatecrasher colection, gods kitch and all the other not so popular trance cds they sell at hmv, but what is comersial? an artist that sells to the mainstream? because alltho these cds are sold widly the artist on them cant be classed as comersial at least not all of them

sorry i was just having an argument with a mate yur ansers may finish it

It's just whatever sells alot. It's really too relative to associate a specific 'sound' to it.

why does it get a hard time tho? i make very unusual sounding tunes but i also maketunes that wud win there place on the background of citv

cheese isnt about whats selling, cheese is more about what is re-selling...

its selling the same sound over and over again..

commercial=making money imo..

but for a track to make real money it has to be in the 'commercial' charts like bbc radio one top 40..

most of the tracks that make it commercially are written and produced with that in mind. the best commercial stuff is the stuff that is written to be non commercial but then finds its way into the charts...

i think a cheezy track can be an awsome track but probably lacks sophistication. a cheezy track usually finds its way into clubs full of pissed up idiots who dont care about music..

Who cares? Good music is good music, bad music is bad music. Why do you care how much it sells? You're a rebel without a cause.

cause we are music snobs and want it to be our own so if too many other people like it and have opinions about it it cramps our style and no longer makes our taste unique.

sheesh, i thought everyone knew that.

id say the whole electro deal is pretty commercial these days, and ill throw in a bash at mcprog too while im at it. any sort of music that is easy and accesible really.

Commercial in my case is music which sounds like it's made for the money and not coming from the heart.

Ultimately, when you want more than just a hobby in music production, it all comes down to money, but you can still produce with the heart, mind and soul you have.
