Dj Sammy Vs Paul Van Dyk
Hey all im just wondering, ok maybe you think paul van dyk is better than dj sammy but who has sold more ? And how would you say that paul van dyk is better than dj sammy> in what ways? I dont think Paul van dyk has had a bigger "hit" than dj sammy boys of summer!?
lol
william hung had a hit that doesnt make him good...
dj sammy is the worst of all time bar none.
William hung had one hit. Dj sammy has had more than 1 hit....and plus william hung was almost a self inflicted parody , Dj sammy hit mainstream and plus sold more than william hung did with his one hit wonder!
Im still waiting to see how Dj sammy is the worst dj of all time as some of you put it!
I cant decided there both so so so so so...
have you tried Babaganoush recently ?
UM has anyone answered this question or are you all too snobby to do so. Paul VAn dyk - nothing but you..... now that song is better than any Dj sammy song....but the rest of his music is shit.. end of story
but are they better than dj alligator, that is not the question to be ask
Has PVD ever produced a Brian Adams or Don Henley remake? NO. Has he ever played a Brian Adams or Don Henley song in his sets? I think not. Has PVD based his career on remaking other people's music? Big N-O!
Has PVD been one of the pioneers of the Trance scene? Why yes, he's been involved with it since the early 90s.
Has PVD produced vocals? Yes he's dabbled in both instrumental and vocal tunes. In some Progressive and even in Breakbeat projects.
Nothing against DJ Sammy, but he's nowhere in the same league as Paul.
i lol'd at this thread.

Thats fair enough chrles at least someone has answered my question. But Dj sammy produced vocals and Paul VAn Dyk pioneered trance to a certain degree yes i agree , but i wouldnt say that that has helped make his music any better than dj sammy.
And the vengaboys are pop not trance!
DJ Sammy - Rise Again
Better than any Paul Van Dyk tune.
(kidding, don't hurt me)
Once again, I'd like to flame this thread, but I just know others will do it better, and far more eloquently than I possibly could. So I'll just stick with a "heh".
Heh.
"Crazy frog - popcorn" was a "bigger" commercial hit than any Paul van dyk tune..... and you think tht makes the freak behind the "crazy frog" project more talented?

l'by hbbaaaaaa.....
I'm also confused by the comparison of artists here? Why pick PvD to be compared with DJ Sammy as they are so disimilar it sounds like you just picked the first DJ name that popped into your head and decided to make this thread.
I look at this comparison as a very apples to oranges debate while no real validaty will come from it besides that every post will be screaming PvD is the better Producer/DJ. 'nuf said.
I suggest to you to expand your horizons past the commercial realm of Trance or electronica and you'll soon realize how bad sammy is.
Good day.
All together now, l'by hhbbbaaaaaaaa.............

Here's the thing. DJ Sammy is nothing, musically. Yes, "Boys of Summer" may be a catchy tune, but there's nothing there. It's an 80's hit that he basically took the music, ran it through a couple synthesizers, got some girl to sing the lyrics, and that's it. There's nothing to it.
PVD....it depends on the individual production, but as a general trend, his music is much more musically deep than anything dj sammy has even thought about, let alone produced. Lately, he's been kind of hit or miss, but that's a different issue. Even then, at least his music is original.
The reason i chose PVD is because so many of you think of him as your poster boy....and so many of you think of Dj sammy as cheese. Im still going to stick to my argument and say that; yes i loved "nothing but you", pure genius in terms of trance. And PVD is a trance pioneer and played a big part in bringing trance closer to mainstream, But as far as PVD goes thats about it. I made a thread in the past called "reflecting on reflections", in which i was talking about how crap the album was. In terms of quality of production dj sammy wins hands down, in terms of sales dj sammy wins hands down and in terms of hits dj sammy wins hands down. I know i may be the only one who thinks this but hey who cares.
In fact im going to see PVD play at metro in a few weeks so it'll be interesting to see how it goes!
oh my gawd...this is like the biggest diss anyone could show to PvD. he is being compared to dj sammy???
damn!!!
is dj sammy even in the top 100 of dj mag?
