what kind of monitors are yall using
for your home use what kind of monitors are yall using. i seem to find most home speakers are not very clear speakers when you are trying to keep your beats matched. just looking to see what some of you are using. again this is for home use. i would like to have something that is loud and clear that is inexpensive. thanks
Right now I have my logitech speakers (which also are used as my computer speakers) as my monitors and they work fine....
Im too poor to afford moniters and a PA system for parties so i have a PA system setup in my room. Workes fine for djing. Do a search on the forum and you will find heaps of results.

I use B&W's. They are crisp for in the house.
If you have a bit of cash to splash Id recommend Martin audio Black line F10s. Roughly 500 quid a piece (not including apm)but they are the best monitors ive used in a smaller club enviroment and you would get away with them in the house too I reckon, good for attaching to the roof.
I have a pair of Alesis M1 Actives, theyre great, go really loud. A little bassy perhaps but not so much as to make the sound muddy, tis still clear. They were about 300 for the pair, which isnt too bad considering theyre active so you dont need a seperate amp.
maybe have a look in second hand dealers or ebay..
look for a pair of two way kef, mordaunt short or warfdale speakers from the late 1970's to 80's..
these style speakers are nice and flat sounding and can be bought really cheap. you ll know a good pair.. te surrounds of the drivrs will be rubber- not foam!
you ll end up spending about 20-40 dollars i recon.. then get a amp from the same era... maybe an old technics...?
sup everyone..
i got a pair of the KRK V6s..... a lot of ppl swear by the rokit series, but i A-Bed them and the mids on the V6s were just incredible..... gives me shivers when i listen to a great vocal track. paid around $600 for the pair.....

KRKs are awesome for the price.
i got the RP5 and the thing is just awesome. these things look so small for the sound they deliver. its great for djing and producing.

I have the KRK RP5's also and love them.
i have the RP8's and they're awesome
um..... it depends what you mean by hiss. when i turn them on and there is no music playing, i can hear a very slight hiss - enough that i can tell the speaker is on. however, this 'hiss' is in no way loud enough to affect me in anyway.
i purchased mine from guitar center..... when i was going in i was actually expecting to walk out with the rokit 6s (because of the price). however, like i said before, after i A-Bed the rokit6 and the V6s there was just no comparison - the mids on the V6s absolutely blew the rokits away and for me was worth the extra $. I will add that the rokits had a slightly deeper bass response. a lot of people here have the rokit5s but i personally would have checked out the V4s. they are about half the size but pack a lot of ooomph.
its been said before but you definitely need to go in and listen for yourself.... i heard the rokit8s but the bass was too heavy for what i am looking for. they're supposed to be near-fields and right now they are placed about 3 feet from my ears and i have not even come close to cranking mine to the max yet. i did crank them up at GC and they get LOUD.
let me know if there is anything else i can help you with...

For monitors, I use M-Audio BX5s. To my ears, they sounded much better than the KRK Rokit RP5s. I also checked out the Alesis M1 MK2s, which IMO didn't sound as good as the other two. So, the M-Audios won. They were $300.
i use mackie srm-350 PA speakers... they are nice and clear and loud
I have a pair of Pioneers. They were $100 but were on sale at Circuit City for half off. For a home system they work perfectly.
I have the KRK Rockit 8s.
I originally purchased the Alesis M1s and I returned them.
I love my Rockits. And I only paid $320 for the pair which was a STEAL from guitar center.
Alesis M1MK2 with the sock-mod.

I have some huge Tanoy speakers from like 1980 in heavy wood cases, painted black. They're old put they pack a punch and have a great warm, deep sound. They have their own subs too.
Edit: heres a pic...its on top of the big black file cabinet. The other one is under the desk on the right.

an old pic but;
2 x Skytec 300 Watt Passive
2 x Numark 40 Watt Active
1 x 400 Watt Technic Amp
Is that 4 different turntables there?
As for me I dont have monitors
TDL Nucleus 2 bookshelves on stands.. Might swap em for my mums Kef Kresta's and see what they are like since I dont like the way these TDL's sound.
I remember hearing most old tanoys are worth alot now.

Yea, gotta love the sound of old high quality audio stuff.
My dad has got a realy old technics amp and altec speakers from the 80s that sound so warm and yet clear. The only problem is they have a big wood box that makes them weight too much to easily move and too big to conviently fit anywhere.
Its funny though how some people own these things and instantly think old means crap and are willing to get rid of them for not much.
