Yeah, me either.

Using a flash at Ten15 is, for the most part, a lost cause because 1. My god they overuse the smoke machine these days. Soooooooo much use of it. Never seen a place use it so much. You'd think kryo is going off every five minutes, lol. Although, they did use Kryo last night, but not enough at any given time (ie. it didn't completely fill the room up). So if you are any distance away from where you want the pic to focus, you just get a lot of haze. Using 2nd curtain did little to prevent this. And 2. From up in the booth, the cieling above the DJ is only about 6'5" off the floor (so pics have to be taken mainly through the DJs back)....so the bounce just completely wipes the picture....OI! The DJ used to stand at floor level years ago so the overhang over the DJ was a good 7'5"-8' up in the air (think that one amazing pic of Sasha getting his cig lit by a person in the crowd) but during a little remodeling in like 2000 or 2001, they raised the floor level in the DJ booth but the cieling stayed the same.

Hence why most of the B&J pics I posted from last night use no flash.

Used ISO 1600 last night, gonna try to work it down to 800 tonight and just try to use the diffuser a bit better w/ the flash. I'm quite happy w/ my pics last night being my first time at Ten15 with the camera and the billion lights it has in the place. But practice makes perfect.

I still need a damny fish-eye lens, lol.

Uh oh, alcohol kicking in.

Man...fuck that high ISO...do it at 100 and bounce off the ceiling...leave the aperture at like 5.6 or 8.

You shouldnt ever have to use a high ISO + the flash unless you want to expose EVERYTHING (even the dark lol)

I tried this last night actually (although only down to ISO400), with apertures all the way up to like 16 and with the low ceiling in the booth the most I would ever get is like the distance to the decks, the crowd would be so dark in the pics you couldn't even see them. But as I go back there more will definitly be trying to find that magical setting.
