Al Azar pres. Glaciation - Hiutale [192kbps FULL]

Hello friends! Like many of the tracks Nik and I make together, this one was started by Nik who then passed it onto me to see if I could add anything to it as a collaboration. Happily I could and did, but I then abruptly lost all hope and enthusiasm as I so often do. So the track just sat there for an age before Nik came to the rescue this week and finished it. Woah!

I don't know genres but I would suggest that it fits somewhere under the 'progressive trance' umbrella. You'll notice that we're using a different alias - Al Azar isn't dead and buried, but this is our first track since 'Voyage into Darkness' from January 2005 so this is the start of a new era (well, it will be if I can remember how to produce anytime soon).

Anyways, enough rambling.

Al Azar pres. Glaciation - Hiutale (Original Mix)

Thanks for listening!

nice production mate, got no comments.

such a shame about the main lead, the track was perfect up until the 5 minute mark. it was becoming such a beautiful journey.. sadly that lead pulled me right out of the trance i had gotten into.

nothing wrong with adding a melody of course, but i was expecting warm sounds (pan flutes etc.) and not a plain trance lead.

ps: what does the title mean?
i think it fits the first few minutes perfectly

Hey,

Love the intro guys, great job on that part. Not much "bad" things to say about it, nice track, unique in its on way.

Hiutale is finnish for flake... a snowflake in this particular case.

The intro is cool.
Nice atmosphere.
1:00 sounds like it's going to be a killer.
I like the bass line.
2:25 that little riff is ok but it's not interesting. Maybe i'll develop later on.
Cool little 303 in the back.
I like the stab/pad thing on the back.
3:49 I see some progress here. Oh it drops to the breakdown.
The strings are ok.
5:00 The saw lead is really dry and unclear.
It should be in the front of the mix while it isn't.
I also don't think that a saw sound should be there.
Maybe add more melodic layers with the saw.
I was expecting something much more complex.
6:48 We're back where we started. Breakbeat? No.
The beat comes too sudden. The kick roll isn't enough here.
I feel that more transition effects will help the track.
Outro is fine.
Maybe a little vocal will be nice.
Something in finnish that will suite the track and can be cheesy as hell but almost no one will notice
j/k but the vocal might be a good idea.

8/10
Omer.

listening

plus
the intro is very nice, and intense
nice kick
3:30 nice acid sound
3:50 nice small break, haunting vocals and panned percs

minus
2:00-3:00 the percs are a bit on the loop here
5:00 its getting too much of a mess, the percs are too present, the bass is hardly present in the mix, and the melody doesnt quite sit in the mix.. and there is a bassnote that goes too low..

overall
the introduction is great, alot of cool sounds, percussions works great.. but in about 5 minutes it gets a bit messy.. but on the other hand, there is something about that subtle melody u introduce there that i really like.. which makes me wanna listen to it again.. i could maybe want to have a go on this one..

nice track..

Hey... The beginning is really good, the sound effect which sets the track off is really cool. A beautiful, epic beginning... I like tracks like this which grow slowly element by element. The bass line is one of the best things in this track imo, brings a certain hard trance feeling which is nice. The sound effects work really well throughout the track!

I was waiting for a more massive main melody, and maybe as someone already suggested hear the lead sound is too much of a normal, dry "trance" sound. Anyway I think its a really nice track... technically nothing bad to say. Clean and crisp sounds... Good, solid work!!

Cheers, Lakeus

I'm an avid fan of Al Azar, so I had to grab this.

I'm loving the bassline and percs, they sound really sharp and clean. The intro is hauntingly sweet. The vocal effects were nicely done too.
The only thing I didn't really like was the lead, which I agree with the people that say it's sorta dry.

Very good track none the less

What do you mean by "dry"? And no, it's not supposed to be in the front.

No.

There are no vocals in there...

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I can see why you're so critical about the lead because it's not really what you would expect after the intro. I have no intention to change it, though.

the fx sounded like vocals to me.. i love the main part idea, but i think it lacks a bit of clarity

There is no delay or reverb. The sound should be thicker.
And it's getting drowned in the mix.

Very good, but as said, i'm not expecting that lead at all after that intro. But it's intresting, why always do as you expect
Great work!

I like this track and here is why.

It has a good emotional buildup. The sounds are lush and create an excellent ambience.

With regards to the lead. I find that as stated by the previous poster, in so many cases we find our selves doing what is expected and people even have trouble accepting the fact that you did something a little different. It's fine as people are entitled to their own opinion but in my opinion that is one of the main rocks around the neck of our genre. Why stick to the formula?
Take MIKE for example, there are very few who have his unique sound in trance yes there are those who copy his style but they can't match it.
Guys just keep doing what you are doing, that's what I say.

Cheers
Nem

Never intended to do otherwise

I'm just listening to the first draft of our next track and... well... it's really something else

Posted by iloop on Mar-02-2006 01:52:

clean and nice, but nothing that stands out, so it becomes monotone and almost generic trance with a slight prog feel @ the beginning...
