Anyone got a suggestion on a LCD?
i m planning on getting a 26-32inch LCD TV/monitor these days..anyone got a good suggestion?
im leaning towards the SONY, Sharp, Viewsonic ones. Anyone got a good site with good pricing? thanks
hmm i got a 37inch LCD last year for about 2400
i see it now at 2000...
its an LG and in a side by side comparison beat out sony, samsung and hitachi
Yes, keep saving until you can afford a plasma. A LCD is a bmw...get them Benz.
plasma is good for now, but in the long run it burns out, it's life expectancy is much lower than LCD's. although it's picture quality is much sharper.
HP just released some really nice LCD's.. and so has Sony. Sony will most likely be the most expensive, but in my experience the picture is the best hands down. I guess it's all personal taste.
Go over to the CompUSA across from the Beverly Center. They seemed to have one of the best selections I have seen in the area.
thanx for the suggestion people..the new HP 26 inch LCD is made with Sharps's LCD so the picture quality is acctually damn good..i think ima gonna get the SONY since the sharp LCD cant really use as a computer monitor.
The only down part i heard bout SONY is dat they installed some sort of spyware onto your computer if you use the monitor. It will not allow you to DL songs or copy songs i heard.*_* who knows..
^^i dont think thats possible to do. you think its going to detect you downloading music legally vs downloading it illegally?
I bought a refurbed sharp 23" LCD monitor from Ubid for $700. It's got digital and analog computer inputs. Resolution is 13xx X 768. It works fine as a monitor.

some of you guys seem uninformed. Plasma is VERY VERY bad for small size tv/monitors. That is the reason that you see them stop at 42". thats when LCD becomes the superior technology. if they could produce lcds with perfection at the same sizes as plasma they would out perform plasma. if your looking for a badass LCD and dont mind spending a bit get an apple cinema display. overpriced imho but very good. the only thing you will need is an ADC to DVI adapter (if its not the new ones anyways. didnt notice they changed)as the ADC connector integrates the power into it. the only downside to the 30" apple display is you MUST have a high end video card as it requires a dual-link dvi output. these have always been very good monitors...just expensive. you can get the 23" for 1300 and the 30" for 2500 at pricewatch.com. do some research before you buy.
The Samsung LCDs are easily better than the Sony ones.
When it comes to HUGE Plasma displays, they beat out LCDs. Sorry. Some of the plasma's I've seen (which haven't come out to market yet) are so sharp it's scary....most beautiful blacks I've ever seen (using downtown Tokyo at night as an example).
Too bad the cheapest TV that has this quality will be like $20,000
LCDs are great. Go with them.
I just bought a 26" Panasonic LCD for $1039. tax included thru a friend's discount with Panasonic. Those LCDs are like $300. more at Circuit City and other similar stores. I can hook up my PC and like 6 other goodies. Check www.panasonic.com for more info on their LCDs and other TVs.
The plasmas are super nice but they don't last that long and they cost a whole lot more.
I think my next TV (as if I need more) will probably be the Sony 40" (maybe it 42") projection HD TV.
If you or a family member has a Costco membership, you can purchase a TV through them and you have like 6 mos. to return it.
I looked around quite a bit and purchased the Panasonic 26 inch LCD for the bedroom and have been very happy with it so far. I got it from Costco for about $300 less than what Tweeter was selling it for.
For Christmas I got my folks a Philips 36 inch and it's ok. It is a good set for the price. I am pro Philips products. There is a lot of value there. Plus my electronics purchasing policy has changed. Electronics become obsolete very quickly. It's not like the days where you would buy a TV for years.
I have my eye on the 40 inch LCD for my living room and Sony is the top that I have seen. The plasmas have way too much glare for the room. It's just the 40 inch LCD's are way to expensive at this time. I am shooting for the end of the year.
Buying electronics is a bitch. I just purchased a new computer for the house and that was an ordeal. I had it made and it's a screamer. I just need to figure it out. . .

Good luck

That's too funny CND!!! I'm going to put my LCD in my bedroom and I also recently bought me a computer... well it's a HP Pavilion laptop DV4000 series. I've been checking out all the TV's (LCDs & Projection) these last couple of months. I don't see much difference in the LCD and the Projection TV except for the price. I too liked the Sony and then Samsung.
We can compare notes with our 26" LCD!
I would strongly recommend waiting on buying any tv's right now because they don't support HDCP. HDCP is basically what will enable you to watch content in full HD, non HDCP compliant TV's won't be able to play in full resolution.
If you feel that you must buy a TV though I'd suggest a Sony because they are (and have been for many years) the leaders in this field. However LCD and Plasma TV technology isn't that great yet to be honest. You still have to worry about lag in fast moving pictures which is just plain annoying. So look very carefully.

Yeah, I don't doubt that. But for the sake of not having to deal with it, I'd say wait.
