Digital Downlads

Are there any download stores that you can buy from that allow you to play the tunes commercially?
reading through the terms and conditions of some sites i realise they all state the downloads can only be used for private use etc.(its a bit confusing) its difficult and expensive to get the tunes i want here and the stuff i have already downloaded from these sites im not sure wether i can play them out.

I dont think it is normal to be able to buy music for commerical/public use anywhere. Normaly all music you buy; records, cds and downloads are only for private use but the clubs/bars/events/radio stations all have licenses... or should.

Posted by blacknoizybox on Mar-04-2006 11:58:

Anjunabeats FAQ states that you are allowed to play mp3s in clubs

Posted by Freak on Mar-04-2006 12:34:

the licesne that the club/bar has allows you to play anything out- even stuff that is restricted to domestic use only normally.

Once your tracks are burnt on CDRs, how could they tell wether you bought it, stole it, got it from the producers or made them yourself?

Posted by cmack on Mar-12-2006 16:04:

That's why it might be a good idea to hold on to your digital receipts that are supposed to be emailed to you...I mean, if you're THAT worried about being "audio audited"

Posted by Sh!fty on Mar-12-2006 22:19:

btw, on most cd's there are little letters saying: for private use only
I think u'll be fine if u hold the receit of your downloads

Posted by Zild on Mar-12-2006 23:08:

It's up to the venues to pay for the licensing.

Posted by erdega on Mar-13-2006 16:47:

I think it's common sense that digital files are like cd's or vinyl in that you can play them out anywhere you want but can't copy them. Just put yourself in the shoes of the vendors, they need to have a business but there is no reason why they would prohibit playing in public places or any place.

Posted by Zild on Mar-13-2006 17:49:

You're not supposed to play vinyl in public either unless the venue pays its lisencing fees.
