iwas messing around with the cdj800

i was using the cdj 800 at guitar center. my disc would play a song in CDJ mode...then as soon as you click over to vinyl mode...the track slowly breaks and then stops. now, all i can do with the track is scratch it. I can't get it to play. WTF is wrong.

If i switch back to cdj it stats playing again, then over to vinyl and it breaks and stops.

Do you have anything touching the platter?

Posted by Basstard on Mar-04-2006 02:16:

sounds like the touch sensitive area is pressed in. guessing tho

Posted by xstalkrx on Mar-04-2006 02:22:

nothing is touching the platter. seriously spent 10 minuets trying to figure this out and was too embarassed to ask an employee.

worked just fine on the cdj 1000

could there be a file format problem? jsut guessing...

no i dont mean anything is touching the platter, i mean the actual platter is pressing down in the mechanism. that would explain why the cd plays fine in CDJ mode (as the platter isnt used)

so you mean to say that the CDJ is possibly busted?

Posted by spdandpwr on Mar-04-2006 12:10:

go and try again and touch the platter with your hand there is a light that lights up when you touch the platter, this is from what i remember when i used the 800. If no lights light up that means its busted, like most of the 800 that have been coming out

Posted by xstalkrx on Mar-04-2006 19:34:

yup..sure nuff...no light comes on when you press the platter down on the 800 at guitar center.

off topic...is the 800 able to handle VBR mp3? i see it doesnt support WAV format...devastating news....

Posted by spdandpwr on Mar-04-2006 20:17:

800 does not support any digital files only regularly burned cd's (if that makes any sense). No mp3 cds in other words except for the new mk2's

So say if i took a cd which i burned that contained msuci files i had d/l'd from sites such as limewire etc would they work on an 800 or 200?

Posted by xstalkrx on Mar-04-2006 20:55:

Dude, everything supports .wav.

Wave is just "cd format" 44.1 khz ch00nage.

ANy cd you buy at a store has 8-16 ".wav"s on it.

When you burn mp3s to a regular audio cd, it essentially converts them to .wav on the way over.

If that happens it has nothing to do with the file format, Its the cdj thats busted. I agree that the touch sensative part probly has been pressed in which would make it seem as though their is constantly something on the platter.... Just a guess though
