i have made some changes in the tune and a bit in the melodies and bassline

It's a very good impression overall. I like the bass, nice sound. The filter thing that follows is quite exciting, my favorite. The break at 1:30 is well done. I think it lags a bit at 2:30 and I might cut that out a little. The arp at 3:30 is a tad helter-skelter, but that kind of thing appeals to me. To me, that sound right there throws this somewhere in the hard-psy zone. You lose me again at 4:30. I guess I don't like when you drop to bass/drum with these two patterns, because that's the second time. The end is well done. Good job.

well thank you . ill take a look at that 2:30 thing..

i made this thing more psycadelic now

Update Update:

fixed some filter issues, fixed with percs (some where to weak) and reworked melody and bassline, gave the start a bit extra drive to (a hoover sound but thats when the kick comes in) i also faded in all those fx's better..

:P j/k

i like it, altho it could be better tho.. the arp i dont like, the bass is cool, but should be fatter imo.. ive told u what i thought on msn... post the log if u like lol

Hey, commenting as I listen...

nice introduction, cool FX.
The sidechained distorted bass is interesting. Maybe you could decrease the attack time just a little more to give this more offbeat character? Otherwise, it sounds kinda cool.
Nice break @1:26 ... hah, the breakbeats took me by surprise. Some cool filter sweeps.
I'd like your percussion to get fatter. Get some better samples, or just layer some of them. You can make a lot of pressure with a tight percussion you know?
again a break @2:50 .. feeling kinda confused. But the sounds are great, very dark.
What a great melody! This sounds so strange, like its out of this world, like a completely bastardized alien version of a trance anthem.
4:00 is also very nice. Didnt expect this.
Somehow this is cool stuff. Still needs something but this melody (which is a little bit too loud IMO, but thats a small detail) really got my attention.
I think your track sounds all in all still a little fragmented. Maybe you could think about some interesting transitions.
Keep it up!

thanks for your review cybernetica .

too bad i used the demo v until today, had to shut it down to work so yea.. this song is gone but its still good as it is.. i hope .

thanks for the comments about the melody .

i have a similar bassline (with the same preset with my own tweaking (not much)) but its more intense and im thinking about making a tune out of that to i really liked making this.

i got the inspiration for this while listening to hardhouse/nrg so well.. thats the influences.

the 4:00 part is the part i like the most but its a bit high indeed .

thanks for your review

I think you really got a good sound going with the sidechain (ducking) on the bass. Big fan of that myself, try to use it as much as possible. Just love the throbbing effecting tunes that have that give.

The melody throws me for six. I'm probably too rigid but it's a little too experimental for me.
Obviously you are aware of the level so wont go into that.

At one point in the track it also sounded like your kick was being squashed by another sound.

Verdict.
Love the core of this track just can't get to grips with the melody.

Cheers
Nem

well thanks for the review nemo the kick being squashed? problably a filter thingy i missed! darn it :/.

the melody is a bit experimental but i suck at doing melodys.. i try to stay away from em even if i love them

I think the bass should be a tad more deep and grimy, but I can't complain much further than that.

The bass is somewhat melodic. It bounces around with some experimental drive.

The transitions don't seem too well thought out, except I love the psy-ish intro pads. Those pads are simply awsome.

The saw item is a hot number. It's the totally redeeming thing of this track. It's experimental and I love it... like Cybernetica said, it's got some bastardized feel to it that's refreshing. I appreciate it following the saw.

Overall, however, this production could be upped a few notches if:
1. You focused on phatter bass overall...
2. Added more rythmic elements and motifs...
3. Proposed more dynamic transitions between the three parts of the song.

yea... it would be great if i could update this track but... it was the demo i did it on..

Posted by Four_On_Four-er on Mar-05-2006 03:26:

Why not purchase it, then... I know nothing concerning Swedish currency, but FLStudio is relatively the cheapest sequencer; yet found an extreme return value.

I'm double impressed that you did all that in a demo sitting.

1.28 nice little break.
1.40 I like the break beat.

The hihats very quiet. They seem like an constant ambient 'hiss' & are very mono. Consider a driving cymbals/hihats.

2.25 The track is empty now.
2.38 something needs to be added to this transition. Maybe some fx with echo to help it keep moving.

3.20 awesome new layer.
3.48 I like how you extend the attack & morph the main synth.
4.15 you should consider adding another higher layer here to elevate more.

5.10 Layer fades in & fades out quickly. seems unnecessary.

I love the bass, the break beat percs & the groove of the lead synth.

The layout of the tune could be changed a bit. The middle of the tune feels empty. Try & add some more layers & then roll them into the fx break @ 2.45.
Also try & fade the lead synth of the second half in a little slower & build her up; then add some layers for a final crescendo & then fade the synths out to end. (though if you are happy with the 3 parts of your song you could continue the 3rd part a bit more & add to that)

best of luck with it mate. Ive liked what I heard so far.

thanks for a great review man .

it seems alot of people doesnt like the break around 2:00 something :/. well to bad i cant fix it..

four i cant work on the tune anymore since i started working on it yesterday in the morning when i found a lovely little sytrus preset in the demo... in the demo you cant save.
and then i got fl xxl and regged it but the demo thingy i had up didnt change to xxl and i didnt want to keep 2 fl's up so i shut the demo down after i was happy with the tune .

Hey...

Commenting as I listen. Im not too fond of the snare sound, sounds too much like a rock snare. The kick could have more bottom end to make the track really driving. The main melody is pretty twisted... the bass during that part could be lot louder because now its inaudible. Experimental stuff!

Cheers, Lakeus
