[psy ] DJ Freaq pres. Wrzonance - Minimal Mama (192kbps full)
THERE IT'S DONE!
IN ALL ITS GLORY!
It has been a while since I've posted one of my own productions. I have many projects in the works, but none of which are complete. I am working on an album, but this is my latest work. Still needs work like I would imagine but it's more or less done.
Made in Nuendo 3. Used ReFX Vanguard (of course, :P ) and interestingly enough ReFX Slayer.
Waves plug-ins, TC Works, among others.
Really enjoyed how this one turned out. This originally started as a collaberation between my buddy Vadim and I.
I tried doing some quick mastering in SoundForge. Dunno for sure, but I did do some subtle volume automation on the final overall mix, as well as some limiting and compression. Also brightened the highs a bit with the Waves Linear-Broadband EQ. In all honesty it is hard to do a true mix and mastering when I have Alesis M1Mk2s (notorious for fake lows) and Sony 7506 headphones (notorious for loosing lows, and being to bright).
All I know is that I'm gald I got it done. And woot! WOOT!
It's pretty good for my work. Not sure if it's really that minimal, I just don't have a lead line. Just a psy-ribbit and a bassline. And some effects and percs.

And as always. Feedback appreciated.
EDIT: Nou thinks it's the stupidest track name ever. And I agree.
minimal is a good way to describe this.. it has some very nice/interesting percussion elements but not driving enough, i think snares + 16/16 hihats + delay + rides are in order, but i guess its your artistic creativity here. just doesnt have enought elements to keep things moving or fill out the track... overall i like the use of rythmic experimentation
Hey,
Nice deep tom/timpani in the begin, I was expecting for a moment a film score tune :P, nice hats, now all turns Psy Trance, except for the bass line it has the classic Psy Trance vibe, the bass should be moving more imo, pa pa pam pa pa pam pa pa pam pa pa pam, same melodie but in 1/8.
Overall, it is going good, the secti0ons and the structure are a bit caothic atm, other than that this has potential for a nice Psy tune keep it up
.
Kopi =o.
hey nice tune, would be extremely cool if it werent minimal
.
bassline is pretty darn cool
, well.. really friggin cool ! good work
. the whole track lacks a full sounds i think but maybe thats minimal, i dont know.
i have to disagree about what kopi said about its structure being chaotic its not that chaotic but.. maybe just a tad chaotic.. nothing i would think of.
Awesome track Freaq... Bassline could be a bit deeper.. but other than that minor detail.. BAM.. I was dancing in my chair mate..
Like the beginning. I love this kind of thing. But I am an old man of techno
At 2:00 I am really feeling a plastikman energy.
I really like 2:40. Almost like the shudder of acid or dmt
I am not very objective on this piece, as it is most pleasing. But at 3:30 most people would probably very a drop of fucked synth swirls to be stunning.
Like the laser thing at 4:09
The break step at 4.46 is good but could also wash in melody surprisingly.
The swishy thing at 5.30 saves it from boredom for a techno.
I would probably call this psytech and to me that means goodness
More serotonin receptor activation at 6.24 i see
Nice song dude. Much like brother. I don't thing people can change much without altering your vision. If I were doing it and had the skill I would wash in melody at the two places above and maybe even bring in all sorts of afrocuban/salsa/shaman shouts/wierd movie samples a la shpongle throughout.
Good job
OKay let's see, groovy intro, DJs may like this intro. Intresting kick intro, but it all falls together nicely.
This reminds me of techno for some reason. You triplet transition whas cool. But the triplet bass and 8th hi hats dont fit as well, I like it when rythems are the same. Some times you can mix em up, but these tempos are too fast for that.
Still, the groove is bouncing.
I like this a lot, I just thing the rythems kinda clash.
I love the percs in the intro.
Wonderful high pass sweep on the bass and kick.
by 2:03, the track has settled into a nice techy groove.
12/8!!!! Win.
3:39 could have just been a measure worth of edits. The second measure seemed to push it too far.
5:21 is a bit jarring with the difference between 12/8 on the bass and 4/4 on the snare.
Very nice track. Original and driving. Keep up the good work.
that's what I was saying, the 12/8 (more acurately, triplets, or some times known as triool), is kinda weird against the other rythems, but it does give a unquiness to it all. I more ppl should experminet with odd rythems.
