Techno recommendations??

I know fuck all about techno but want to educate myself on it. I'm coming from a psytrance background so delight in twisted fx and experimental sonic mayhem.

I know a lot of techno is dirty and rough, which is cool but I'm looking more for a tight mechanical type of sound with lots of cold atmospheric detail and an epic feel. More of a new futuristic sound rather than the oldschool sort of techno. I've heard it here and there, but need names of producers.

Any recommendations along these lines would be much appreciated.

Hard to tell what you mean exactly, but I'll give it a (short) shot.

You might like Shinedoe, check out some samples at http://www.juno.co.uk/artists/Shinedoe/

Dutch female techno producer, bordering on tech-house sometimes, quite melodic as well. If you like it, you might check out some stuff by

Scan X
Vince Watson

If you like it somewhat harder, listen to this sample:

Oscar Mulero - Altaria and see whether you like it or not.. We can continue from there, then.

Thanks basd. I much preferred the Oscar Mulero sample I must say. I guess I'm after the harder side of techno. Any more recommendations along those lines? I'll check out the other two when I get a chance.

One act that I found very much to my tastes was System 7/ A-wave. Infact, its the onyl real techno I've seen live so far. I really like the very synthetic sound they have and the cold detatched feel to a lot of their tracks. Guess that describes a lot of techno though... hmm.

Keep the recommendations coming...

No. Not even close.

Check out:

Takaaki Itoh, though lots of his stuff sound the same, it has sort of an industrial, cold feeling to it
Oscar Mulero (as I've mentioned already)
Reeko

And stuff on the Sheep, Mental Disorder and Tsunami labels.

Moshic might be tribal-ish sounding, but he's far from techno.

And lol @ Yoji Biomehanika. He's not even close to being in the same ballpark as techno.

I know he doesn't play techno. He's kinda tribal progressive house.
And he owns too.

Yoji Biomehanika plays hardtrance and hardstyle (mostly hardtrance really).

Yep, and I'd reccommend techno if I actually new two shit about it. All I know that I like from techno is Marco Bailey, Adam Beyer, and some Cave stuff as well as Hawtin and Magda for minimal techno.

Valentino Kanzyani is one of my favourite techno DJs at the moment.

Mark Broom - J2000

On the Rave Days EP

Fucking brilliant raw and stripped down techno record.

people like steve rachmad and joris voorn are always good. Johannes heil's older stuff was excellent and a name i've not heard in a while alexander kowalski - check out his echoes, response and progress albums.

Someone who is now dead, but always did good techno, christian morgenstern, tunes like lydia to the edge of panic, aux talk funkativity, hawaii blue and his Miscellaneous ep's on kanzerlamt were all diamond.

Jeff mills does a lot of that futuristic sounding stuff as well, but I've never been much into his tunes.
