the latest one, 4, was actually pretty damn mature. seeing as how they got a new director and the charectors themselves grew up. it's getting pretty cool.

I saw it yet again at IMAX 2 sundays ago. Although it was rushed, it's my 2nd fav of the movies. I'm gonna get this on DVD this weekend.

trust me, youre not missing anything. fantasy for 5yos. and the first book (possibly others, not sure coz im not a glutton for punishment) reads like it was written by a 5yo.

It really isn't that bad. It reads at about a 9th grade level, and its purely for entertainment. Of course, their is a little allegory and social commentary in it as well.

One thing I do admire about the books is it's continuity. I'm not talking about within one book, but characters from book 1 might appear in book 5 without changing mannerisms or speech. Other authors who write book series have trouble with this and sometimes mix up minor characters; this is one of my pet peeves in series'

It allows for more in-depth reading if required, but that really isn't the series' purpose (i assume).
