Since you all obviously need some entertainment...

Sorry, no one's banned here, and no arguments have been started as of yet.

The website below maps anyone who is on a given state's sex offender registry. Reality is pretty scary, but it's better than not knowing.

http://familywatchdog.us/

My first inclination was to map my parents' house and my sister's (and little nephew/godson) house, and thank God no one is within 10 miles of either, because I would definitely visit and have a nice long talk with that person. It would be worth the harrassment charge.

Click on the scrolling Amber Alert to see some really disturbing reports, their resolution, but also the details of each.

I live 7 blocks from a child molestor. Other than that I live in a clean area. I noticed that as the map goes toward downtown LA, it gets saturated with red dots! They should rename the city "Los Rapelos."

This is kinda fucked up. A drug dealer is bound to sell drugs again. A thief is bound to steal again. But you don't see them getting tracked.

Just because sex offenders might commit another sexual offense doesn't make this tracking right. It's fucked up.

When a drug dealer sells drugs, the purchaser is not thinking, "ow, you've offended and violated my personal space. I'm crying now." The deal is mutual.

A thief steals property and while the victim can be substantially upset and possibly hurt in the process, stealing an object is the goal. Stealing is also very broad and can range from a violent attack to a neighbor stealing someone's porno. Comparing a thief to a sex offender is like comparing an escort to a prostitute.

However, the sex offender is always directly violating the victim (rather than their wallet, or credit card) who didn't give consent (unlike the person down the street pruchasing pot).

Based on what I said above, I argue that a sex offender is more of a social deviant. And since the definition of a "sex-offender" includes directly violating someone else, it should be much more likely to end up on a tracking list.
