April 1, 2006 - Club Avalon, New York.

Physical Music Label Tour
M.A.N.D.Y (Berlin)
Booka Shade (Live) (Berlin)

Booka Shade will embark on an extensive tour taking in the US and Europe in support of their forthcoming new album, 'Movements'.

Since the release of Booka Shade's Memento in 2004, both Booka Shade and the Get Physical label have blown up considerably; Get Physical, one of the few independent dance music labels to have releases listed on iTunes and even in HMV storefronts. The arrival of this latest album 'Movements' from the Berlin-based production duo comes with much anticipation and great expectations.

In an obvious showing of staggering worldwide interest in the label and its roster of artists (which include M.A.N.D.Y, DJ T. and Chelonis R. Jones amongst others), over the next three or four months Booka Shade will be setting out on a massive tour in support of the 'Movements' release. The tour will include two dates at the Miami WMC and appearances at New York's Avalon, the Mayday party, the Inox Festival in France and Fabric London along the way.

Opening with Booka Shade's next single Nightfalls, the 14-track 'Movements' album features a new version of the Ibiza 2005 anthem, 'Body Language', and what many may have thought impossible, a new version of 'Mandarine Girl' which actually improves on the original. We'll have more details about the album closer to the release date which is slated for May 12th, 2006.

Next month also sees the release of the next Booka Shade single 'Nightfalls' on Get Physical on April 5th, 2006.

I've never been...heard nothing but the worst about it. I wish they were doing a bit bigger of a tour.

I hear ya...

Although, Avalon has been doing a lot to bring that place back from the dead lately and they are bringing in some absolutely ridiculous djs this summer...

i hear they are really trying to change the place. they have someone new running it and are attempting to get rid of the old clientele and bring in some new ones.

a few big acts will be announcing dates there shortly.

Interestingly enough, I'm beginning to like Avalon. Despite abysmally bad crowds that make you not want to even get near the dancefloor (though when I'm on it I usually just go crazy hehe), I find that the club attracts many of the good, popular, but not 'personality cult' DJs. A lot of acts that spin their are amazing, and they don't have 20 Tiesto groupies that they talk to between mixing and drinking. I remember for Blank & Jones back in December, one chick climbed onto stage and started dancing... in front of the mixers and B&J. One of the two (the one with dark hair) got her attention, and angrily motioned for her to get the fuck out of there. As such, I'll probably go to see Booka Shade, as that's a very good act and Avalon, in my opinion, is going nowhere but uphill.

The place can be bad but not much worse than the usual spirit crowd. I think the last time i was there was when JOOF played last spring.
