What is the first song/set that ever got you into the Trance scene?

Ok, maybe it would've been via influence from other sources for some of you, but what song/set was it that really changed your religion which makes you the tranceaddict that you are today?

For me personally, being a newbie to Dance/Trance music back in 2001, singles such as PPK - Ressurection or Llo - Rapture kinda opened my mind to this sort of music. Then I was introduced to Tiesto's set 'Energy 2000' which instantly defined the genre and permanently sealed up my interest in Trance music.

How about you?

Paul van Dyk - For An Angel (PvD's E-Werk Club Mix) back in summer of 1998, set would be Oakenfold's "Tranceport" CD, I was real reluctant to buy trance mixes until I heard this one in 1999. Yeah i'm fairly new to tranceaddict, but not new to trance. But i've known about this site for years, I used to download sets and tunes on here.

The first trance track I ever heard was Binary Finary, although I didn't know what trance was at the time.

Haha me either. I just knew I didn't like the techno music being played at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival the first year it came around, it was way too monotonous for me. I like how trance became something different, more melodic and warm with "For An Angel". I come into it with this because that was my first foray into trance, because I was looking for something different than techno, but still similar. It wasn't until really "Tranceport" that I really started to have a feel for what trance was, and I knew I liked it .

What really got me into trance music was the Paul Oakenfold EM's that got me into trance in the beginning. Even though the first place I originally heard real trance was in Club Space back in 2002, they were playing stuff like Scot Project and Gouryella

Posted by Pokit on Mar-13-2006 18:36:

for me it's probably Airscape - L'Esperanza(Rising Star remix)

I listened to a lot of big beat stuff in the late 90's, chemical brothers, moby, crystal method(vegas), and prodigy. I then met a guy my first year of college that introduced me to the global underground series and Ive been listening since.

It was an amateur tune, a random mp3 on a hyperreal page, when mp3s were new but before napster. I was wondering what all the hype was about. I read this article about the kid who wrote winamp and made a fortune from AOL, so I DLed winamp wondering what the big deal was. At that time you had to pay for winamp, so I found a cracked copy. I went around looking for mp3s, was not interested in pop music or rock or any of that so I figured I should look for something electronic.

The site featured one tune of every catagory of EDM, and they changed out those tunes every few weeks. I tried every tune on the page thinking it would give me a decent idea of how each style worked and which one suited me the best. The jungle tune was stupid, the house tune sounded like an old navy commercial, the techno tune was too repetitive, the experimental tune sounded like a lawnmower, the electro and hardcore tunes sounded somewhat appealing but not enough to keep me interested, but the trance tune was just right I felt, so I decided to investigate trance further.

Dont remember exactly the artist's name, the tune sounded like psy with a breakdown and bird chirping samples. I think it was something like:

Teemu Tomikasoo - Aika

I know I'm really butchering the artist and title of the track, I can't seem to find any trace of that site any more.
